Do you have a wedding e-mail address? And are you going to keep it after the wedding?

mlw, on April 21, 2016 at 4:54 AM Posted in Planning 0 37

Early on, I read somewhere that you should set up an e-mail account to handle all of the vendors, inquiries, and spam that your e-mail will get shared with... so I did. I had planned on coming up with something more clever after we were married to transfer all of my e-mails to, as my current e-mail has to do with my previous married name. The problem I recently realized is that everyone now is requiring a cell phone number to get an e-mail account with them. I'd rather not share that, so I am considering keeping it. So, has anyone else set up a "wedding only" e-mail, and are you keeping it?

I haven't, just because I know I'd either forget to check or constantly be worried about checking. It's much easier just having it pop up on my phone. I've been to a handful of bridal expos and given out my email DOZENS of times and I really don't get much spam.

I have and it's very useful I have all my contracts in there communication between vendors . Reference for all inquiries I received. I will most likely keep it afterwards if I change my last name

Since my email is just my name, I started a new email account with my new name so I can have it to use after the wedding Smiley winking

I started a new email account for the wedding using our first names. It's working out fine, anything wedding related I give it out. The email come to my phone, and keeps everything up to date for me. I keep what I want and unsubscribe what I don't want.

I started a new email address for the wedding. I will be dropping it after the wedding. I went through hotmail, and they allowed me to put 000-000-0000 as the email address. Mail.com also doesn't required a phone number.

I made ours through gmail and I didn't have to put a phone number. I won't be using it after the wedding because it's ***********@*****.***

I'll make a new personal one for myself after I change my name since mine is my last name now

We have a joint email for the vendors we hire that we will keep because we set up some joint bills through it. I set up a separate bridal show email that has already been sold a couple of times that I will turn off.

I wish I had made one! My regular email has been flooded with wedding stuff, and it would be a lot easier if I could keep them separate.

We haven't used our wedding email address, but it was ***********@*****.***. I created two additional accounts ********.*********@*****.*** and *****.****@*****.***. The household one we use for joint stuff- bills, househunting, etc. Same concept as the wedding account, we both have access which makes it easier to share stuff. And then we also both still have personal accounts, I changed mine to my new last name.

I'm pretty sure gmail gives you the option to verify with an email address instead of a phone number.

I haven't. But now that I'm reading this I wish I had! It's hard for me to sort out wedding emails among all the other stuff I get. I already have most of my vendors so I think it's a little too late for me now.

Ours is our hashtag, so we'll probably keep it after marriage. We both have access to it and get notifications to our phones. It's just easier for things that deal with both of us.

I created a separate folder in my current email for wedding stuff. I have already created a new account for after the wedding since my current account has my last name in it.

This is probably one of my favorite advices to give for planning. (That and Google sheets) because it makes it so much more organized. Plus, if FH does something on his own or if I do, it comes up for both of us on the account.

Yesss Google sheets FTW! Makes it so much easier to keep track of guest list, RSVPs, any to-do lists, DJ lists, etc. it autoupdates and we can both check it from our phones, emails, iPads, etc. love it.

I made a gmail account for the wedding specifically and it has been a lifesaver. I would highly recommend doing it as all your wedding related correspondence and documentation will all be in one place.

I made a gmail account just for wedding stuff after my first bridal expo and everyone said i'd get blasted with spam but i honestly rarely use it and spam hasn't been too bad. I made a new gmail with my new name for after the wedding because i didn't want anyone to take it! lol *********.***********@*****.***

No. I just made a wedding folder in my current student email. This post did inspire me to go secure my new names username though!

I did a second email address through GMail for the wedding. It's definitely helped me because I get soooooo much in my personal email so it would be difficult for me to separate all the wedding stuff from my personal stuff (shopping, online bills, etc.). I just did *******************@*****.***
