Do We Need to Provide Transportation to Other Hotel Options?

Chantelle, on April 4, 2021 at 9:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
Our hotel block is right next to the venue, literally right next to it. However, that hotel is kinda expensive even with the block discount. So we listed other nearby options one main street over (0.5 miles away from venue/10 min walk/2 min drive) with different price ranges as well.

Do we need to provide transport to those other secondary options too? That one street over area? All of the out of area guests that need a hotel are 25-28 years old, and also this age group will be drinking more. I feel like this would be a really easy, very cheap Uber for my young friends who decide to stay at the other area of hotels... but I also want to be as gracious as possible if providing transport to other options is the correct thing to do. But I also feel like if my friends plan on drinking a lot, they should plan ahead $$$ to be able to stay at the hotel next to the venue, idk.
All of the venue local guests are the older folks who will likely make sure they are fine enough to be able to go home. Thanks in advance for the advice! Smiley heart

I don't think if is necessary because they would be the ones deciding what hotel to stay at. Plus the hotels really aren't that far from your venue.

    You don't have to.
You could provide Uber/Lyft discounts instead.

It really isn't expected that you provide transportation to hotels outside of the block. The idea of uber/lyft discount codes could be something to look into and be less of a logistical nightmare (how would you know where everyone is staying to provide a shuttle to/from).

For a 10 minute walk or 2 minutes drive, I wouldn’t shell out the money for it. I think you’re fine not to provide it. It sounds like the distance isn’t worth the money

Let them Uber or walk, they’re fine.

Actually, this depends. Is it a city where walking is suitable and Ubers are accessible? If so, I stand by my previous comment. If not, maybe look into transportation.

I don’t think you need to if you make it very clear that it is only the primary hotel that has a shuttle. I’ve been to a number of weddings like this, and always spring for the hotel with shuttle service provided from it.
