Do we need a dance floor?

M, on April 30, 2018 at 5:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

Our wedding will be outside in the desert, the ground is dirt, not grass. When I asked my WP about a dance floor, she told me I don't need one and people usually just dance on the dirt....I was shocked.

Would you hire a dance floor? Also how much did y'all pay for one if you did hire one?

Is it solid dirt? I guess my concern would be whether or not heels are going to get stuck in the dirt! For a 12x12 dance floor rental which is the recommended for a 100 guest the typical price range is like $200 to $300 depending on flooring type in our area. We rent a dance floor for our annual Halloween party.

Yes, please get a dance floor. I'd be peeved if I went a wedding and had to dance in dirt which is going to make me dirtier.

Your guests will likely dance more if there is a floor. I know that I would be hesitant to dance in the dirt and likely ruin a pair of shoes while kicking up dust that will settle on my clothing.

I'd get a dance floor too, unless EVERY guest is accustomed to parties like you are having and will dress for it. If you have any doubts get the floor. If you are wearing a long dress, the floor will help keep it a tad bit cleaner too

I would get a dance floor especially if you think guests would be wearing heels. Do you have any pictures of your venue

I think a floor is necessary. Esp if guests are dressed nice and in heels.

Yeah I probably wouldn't dance in the dirt. I'd opt for a dance floor.

I would kick my heels off and dance barefoot in the dirt, ending up with solid grocery store feet by the end of the night. Smiley smile BUT. I definitely agree you should get a dance floor.

My cousin got married at our family ranch and did rent a dance floor. People showed up in heels and the reception was in grass, so heels would have gotten stuck in the grass. If it was dirt, it may have been different. However renting the dance floor was around $5,000. We are out of town a bit but I've heard they are expensive regardless.

I've been to an outdoor wedding that didn't have a dance floor and I don't remember being bothered by it. I was in flats and a bridesmaid so we had 100 other things on our minds though! When I later asked the bride if there was anything she would have done differently she said get a dance floor!

Definately, my friend had wedding outside last year and with no dance floor in a barn made it harder to dance

Same. Everyone did this at the last wedding I was at and it was awesome. Though the next week while I couldn't get my feet fully clean made me miss the actual dance floor. Haha

Haha! I think it also depends on the dirt. Is it pebbly rough dirt? Soft sandy dirt? Not all dirt is created equal. I love the feeling of silky soft dirt on bare feet but I'm a weirdo. Smiley xd

    Regardless. Dance floor!
