It's interesting how you don't realize how bad some of the lyrics are until you're making sure they're appropriate for an event like this. When you mentioned Fat Bottomed Girls I was like, "wait, WHAT?!" Looked up the lyrics and sure enough... Man!
I agree with passing on anything with derogatory language; that honestly bothers me more than swearing ever will because there's more hatred behind those words.
YAS to wobble, but I feel like I'm going to have to do a friggin' tutorial or something. I've been to weddings where people just "dance around" to it...it's a flipping line dance people.
I feel like I'm going to have a bigger issue with the DJ/ my family wanting to blacklist my choices in music. If I could just play Cardi B mix all night, that would probably be fine with me.
I also definitely need to play "Put it on Me" (the Vita & Lil Mo version - because is that's the only version I acknowledge) so that my partner and I can scream-sing the lyrics into each other's faces.
Regarding do not plays, I'm tempted to ban country but I may just "discourage it" with the DJ. If someone (my entire family) special requests it, then so be it as long as they dance when it comes on. I also up-vote not playing the Macarena.
FH wants to ban certain artists rather than songs. For example, no Nicki Minaj or Cardi B. He cannot stand those two. For me, the only thing I DO NOT want played is Baby Shark. Even though that is my 2 year olds favorite song, we still will not play it.
