There's only one song I don't want played is Alan Jackson's "Remember When" it was my Grandmother & Grandfathers song and he passed away a few years ago and she's still sensitive to it so I don't want that played
We told our DJ absolutely no line dances! Blacklisted Post Malone (with the exception of Sunflower) since the husband doesn't like his music. There were also some songs I added that reminded me of exes.
We didn't think to mentioned What Does the Fox Say or Baby Shark. Both of which were played because we had guests that put in the request directly to our DJ. 🤨
Mostly this is what I did too. We're having a lot of 80s music at the reception, which I love, but there was a whole group of bands/artists from that time that I cannot stand!! So, I said absolutely NOT to:
Depeche Mode
Tears for Fears
Flock of Seagulls
There are others, of course, but these were my top 3 DO NOT PLAY bands.
I'm asking my DJ not to play anything with too many cuss words, not a lot of rap (some of the older stuff is fun but I don't listen to rap at all). I like all the cheesy dances and stuff personally. I don't do them very well but it always gets people up and dancing. There is 1 song that is specifically banned from any function we are hosting: Settle For A Slowdown by Dierks Bentley.
We're most likely going to do this too, but if there is a song we don't like we're just going to cut it or tell the DJ not to play it. It eliminates the possibility of someone making an unapproved request the night of.
No country, no rap - at my first wedding in the early 90's my then hubby's family asked for.....wait for it.....polka music!!! I was like what the heck......polka away!

Both myself and FH said no to the YMCA and shout dance or whatever that is. We also agreed that there are a few artists we veto on and have it on our blacklist lol
