I think its funny seeing so many people getting rid of line dances. Those are my favorite! Anything OutKast, celebrate good times, and we are family will not be played at our wedding.

My friends know I hate Baby Shark and would try to request it which is why I'm getting to the DJ first. I'm going to be like, I don't care if they try to bribe you, please for the love of all things good and holy don't play this song.

Same! Most of the time when no ones dancing a line dance will get everyone out on the dance floor. Im pretty versatile when it comes to the music I like so I’m trusting my DJ to read the crowd and play things that will make my crowd dance. That’s all I care about I want people up and having a good time.

Agreed! I love the Cupid shuffle - and every event that I’ve ever been to that plays this song gets a ton of ppl on the dance floor.
I agree no Macarena! LOL we did ban Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. I also will not play "Thousand years" or "All of Me". Everyone my family has overplayed that at functions and weddings so we are not playing them. We wanted to not do the dances either but we did decide on one...YMCA! LOL only bc its an inside joke between me and my FH...so that and the Cupid Shuffle are safe bc its tells you want to do...and who doesn't know YMCA? LOL

We did this! We just mailed our invitations out this week but some people have already RSVPd online and included their song choice. It's fun to see what people like. Although there is one song request that I sighed at because I hate the song so that's worth keeping in mind haha
We are doing absolutely no line or group dances, they make my skin crawl. No to any rap, limited country, and just general no to artists we don’t like or are overplayed - such as Beyoncé, Pink, Elton John, Mariah Carey, John Legend.
The only line dance I will have is the wobble. Every other line dance is banned. My fiance loves country so we will have limited country and no to pop. I'm game for everything else.
The Cupid Shuffle, that “everybody clap your hands” one that I forget the name of, and anything by Billie Eilish (or however you spell her name). Barf.
Oooo I haven’t thought about this. Our dj doesn’t really play the generic dance songs so that’s good! He said he might do a few but he normally doesn’t. We will definitely play fun up beat stuff and I know a lot of people say no rap but we are playing it as long as it’s up beat and you can dance to it
Blurred Lines! Anything by Chris Brown, R Kelly (not like I care for his music anyway), and adult Michael Jackson. My FW won and got ABC by the Jackson Five on the playlist because mini Michael seemed harmless, and I'm side-stepping the rules by including Magic Dance from Labyrinth as the song my son and I will dance to. ("Slap that baby" is a little off-putting if you don't know the movie)
We also banned anything derogatory toward women, used the N or R words, and anything degrading the LGBTQ community in any way. (Two brides with friends from every letter under the rainbow) The hardest part was listening to songs we loved again and realizing how problematic they are. Fat Bottom Girls by Queen starts out basically telling a story of child molestation. Like what?!?! It wasn't on the list anyway but come on, Freddie!
I was going to avoid line dances but I have been to enough events where that is the final push to get some people on the dance floor so how can we say no?
