Do Mother's of the Bride // Groom Need to Wear Corsages?

Samantha, on September 1, 2019 at 8:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

Is it still common for mothers of the bride and mothers of the groom to wear corsages on the day of the wedding? The groomsman are going to be wearing boutonnieres, as well as the father of the bride and the father of the groom. I think that it is a little old fashioned, but my mom still thinks the women should have them too.

Any thoughts?

It definitely falls on the more traditional side, but I love the tradition of honoring them like that so we did order corsages for both mothers.

They don’t have to, but if you’re going to honor the fathers, I’m not sure why you wouldn’t do the same for the mothers.

I don’t like the look of corsages so I’m making flower hoops for the mothers and grandmothers.

If the fathers will have something the mothers should also have something. I have been to weddings where they have smaller bouquets and sometimes even single flowers with greenery and wrap stemmed if you don’t like the corsage.

My mom didn't want them, so we just decided to skip flowers for the parent's, other than my dad walking me down the aisle.

We didn't do them for our mom's. In either of my weddings lol. It's really up to you though. When I did wedding photography it was about 50/50 when they had them

I think it's a really nice gesture to make them feel special too on the wedding! Smiley smile

Yes, they should have something, especially if the men are getting boutonnieres.

They should definitely have flowers of some sort if their husbands are getting them. Might want to see if they want them on wrists or on their clothing though. both of the moms preferred to have them on their dresses due to helping out with kids (MOG) and my hair (MOB).
