Do I need to do seperate invitations for the rehearsal/dinner?

Ashley, on February 17, 2012 at 12:38 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

My mother in law was originally doing my rehearsal dinner, and she was going to handle the invitations. After some disagreements and a small falling-out, she is no longer hosting it, and it is left in the hands of my FI and I. I've already send out my wedding invitations. Do I need to send out seperate formal invitations to the rehearsal and following dinner, or can I do a casual e-invite, or something like that?

If you have already sent out your formal invites, I would just do something casual. It is ususally just the bridal party with their spouses and immediate family anyway which Im sure they assume they need to be there for the rehearsal...

I've always seen it be a separate invitation, but if you're worried about funds I'm sure an evite would be fine.

You could just get the free rack cards from VP and keep your costs low.

I made up some invites on VP -- so they were very inexpensive. I don't know that it was necessary and probably could have sent an email/evite/word of mouth, but I wanted people to have directions to the restaurant printed and a keepsake if they wanted it.

I am not sure if it is a must but we did one that went with our literary theme. They turned out really cute! My husband is a newspaper reporter Smiley winking

We bought them from the company who did our wedding invitations.
