Do i need a maid of honor?

Lindsay, on December 30, 2019 at 8:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 13
I lost my sister years ago, and always planned for her to be my MOH. I have two best friends who would love to be my MOH I’m sure, but I’m thinking maybe I just won’t have one at all and only have bridesmaids. How necessary is it to have a MOH? My Fiancé will be having a best man.

No isn't necessary. If you don't want one then don't have one.

I'm having two close friends that are sisters and my future sil. I couldn't decide between my two friends bc they both have been in my life forever so I decided not to pick MOH and have them all just be bridemaids.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m sure it will be hard not having here there with you on this special day. It’s not necessary at all to have a MOH but there are lots of different ways you could honor your sister as your MOH. Maybe leave an empty space between you and your bridesmaids and have a pedestal with a small bouquet on it and have her name in your program as “honorary MOH”. You could leave a chair in the front row and have a small bouquet on that or lots of other things to make sure she is honored on your special day.

Legally, all you need are one or two witnesses (depending on where you're getting married). You can just grab any couple people who are at the wedding :-)

Also, I decided I just wanted 2 people in my party. I made them co-maids of honor. lol
