Do I have to wear make-up?!

I. Never. Wear. Make-up. If I wear anything it's just mascara and lipstick or lip gloss, and maybe MAYBE eye shadow. I look like a sad deer when I wear eyeliner. I've been looking back at photos for others' weddings where I have worn make-up and the ones where I was wearing foundation and everything...

I've been looking back at photos for others' weddings where I have worn make-up and the ones where I was wearing foundation and everything just do NOT look like me. My hair stylist/friend just got married and suggested I look into airbrush, but I'm afraid I'll look back at photos and think "WHO IS THAT?" Thoughts? Suggestions? Any other non-make-up wearers out there who can weigh in?

I don't wear makeup either. Just like you I wear chapstick and mascara occasionally. I have decided to wear makeup on my wedding day because I feel like looking nice in pictures. I did my make up trial and loved it. I'd say do whatever makes you feel the best for your big day, maybe go for a trial and see how you feel and then decide.

You have to go pretty heavy handed to cover everything- and you have to add concealer and corrective concealer to cover many skin things (I say things because not all things people get covered are "flaws")-

Even a good powder foundation will even your skin tone- and not take away from your freckles.

I have a mild case of melasma- from my birthcontrol- it essentially makes my skin look mottled on my cheek- I have to apply a color corrector AND full foundation (builtup) and powder to make it go completely away.

The beautiful thing about make up is A. it can literally be whatever you want. and B. it washes right off. You're never stuck with it. You can absolutely request that your freckles be seen still. Just ask!!!

@JoRocka thank you for all the feedback and make-up knowledge. You seem to be the make-up queen of WW and it does NOT go unappreciated!

OP, I feel you about the freckles! I wouldn't want mine covered up either. As others have said, do some trials and find your look! Good luck.

Honest question, for those saying that going without make-up will cause someone to look washed out, what do your partners (if they are male) plan on doing? I wore make up, just because I like make-up. But my husband did not, and he looked fine in all of our photos.

I'm not a makeup person either. Maybe a lipstick or shadow but only for special occasions. For my wedding, I wanted to look extra special, so I had my MUA do a red lip and vintage eyes. Loved it. Give it a trial run and see how you feel. You might like what you see.

Don't wear it! You will be beautiful just the way you are. Men don't have to worry about looking "washed out" so why should we?

I don't wear makeup either, but I did get it professionally done for the wedding. I don't regret it one bit. I told her I wanted to look like myself, and she did an amazing job.

I say go as bare as possible but maybe some powder foundation to avoid 'wash out'. I hate liquid foundation. Concealer is all I wear but I am getting some brown/ black mascara and a tiny amount of blush for the big day just so I don't look like death in the pictures in a white dress.

I wore very minimal makeup , as I was getting ready my photographer was there and kept taking test shots to let me know when i was no longer washed out on camera. I did wear falsies because I love the look but those aren't needed

If you don't like make up, don't wear it. You know what you look like in pictures. Look at some pictures of yourself and then look in a mirror. If you like the way the pictures look and feel like it accurately captures how you actually look, there is no reason to wear makeup.

I never wear make up on any occasion. I will be getting my make up done professionally for the wedding.

Don't do anything you don't want to, but I'd definitely recommend wearing it for the sake of your photos. Also, your phrase "look like a sad deer" cracked me up!

You definitely don't have to wear makeup if you don't want to. Personally I don't think a little bit of makeup would hurt. I don't think it would be that noticeable in pictures to the point where you can't recognize yourself. I think what you need to do is find a professional MUA that is willing to work with you on the type of makeup you want. Do trials with them. For example a no makeup-makeup look or something very simple! Maybe a little bit of blush to add some warmth to your face, a bit of eyeliner and mascara to make your eyes pop, and a nice my-lips-but-better nude lipstick. I think it would definitely bring out your features and make you glow on your wedding day!

If you don't wear it, don't. However, I do agree with PP that you may look washed out. Photos never capture the skin tone correctly. Unless you plan on photoshop.

Do you HAVE to? No. SHOULD you? Yeppers. At the very least, wear a BB cream that can help even out your skin tone, mascara o(dark brown/waterproof), and a tinted lip balm. There, you're done and will still look like "you" but 100x's better in your photos Smiley smile

I only wear mascara and maybe blush normally, but wanted to look polished for my wedding and also have photos turn out well. I don't regret it at all!

ETA: I started off with a more natural look for my first makeup trial, but ended up going a bit more glam for the wedding.

I would suggest talking to your MUA let her know what you want, and she will suggest what she thinks is best to keep you looking natural and freckles showing through.

I'm glad your going to try because professional photos are different, and I don't think natural beauty gets to really shine through on them.

I mean look at Morgan S she looks absolutely beautiful!! I am doing airbrush with false eyelashes and all the rest along with my bridesmaids but we all love makeup and wear it every day. It is not something that affects guest comfort so it is honestly up to you!!
