diy weddings vs wedding planner

Corie, on December 15, 2019 at 2:29 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12
Hi Ladies,

Quick question how many of you planning on having a DIY wedding or are you hiring someone to do it? I really want to diy my centerpieces and some other thing, my fiancee thinks I'm crazy and will be stress out during the whole thing. However oirbwedding isnt until 2021 , which would give me plenty of time to complete projects. I could hire a day of person to set everything up

We hired a DOC, but planned the wedding ourselves. We had a 21 month engagement and at no point did I feel overwhelmed or stressed.

We didn't hire anyone. I'm doing all of the planning and decorations myself, made all of the save the dates and invitations, etc. We have a seven month engagement and everything has been going well so far. It depends on the person I think.

I think if you are a DIY person, you should go for it! It adds a nice personal touch to the wedding & assures everything is how you like it. You have lots of time, so hopefully it wouldn’t be too stressful. DOC is super helpful though! It’s nice to have someone orchestrate the glow and make sure things get set up/torn down properly.

Maybe I'll start with our engagement party decorations and go from there. I do everything for our kids birthday.Looking at quotes from wedding planners and day of coordination are pretty close in cost.

We didn’t hire a planner, I organized it. We did hire a florist for centerpieces, I do think doing that on your own might be stressful. I only diy’ed our signs and our favors.

I'm DIY'ing the majority of my décor. My best friend's mom decorates events so she's going to help me the day of. I'm having a two year engagement so I've been taking my time. I watched a lot of Miss Plan It, Sherly Cormier, and One Hip Sistah videos on youtube. Some big ticket items, I purchased on black Friday but I'm working on a centerpiece made from Dollar Tree items.

I would suggest starting early so you can troubleshoot some projects. (I've had some things unglue or break--so I had to re-work em)

    Good luck!

I’m not hiring a planner or DOC. My wedding is going to very small (less than 75 people) with 80% of the guest being my FH family. I have a very small family and a small circle of friends. I’m also DIY a lot of things. I making the bridesmaids bouquet with silk flowers. I’m going to purchase my bouquet off of Etsy ( I don’t trust myself to make a large bridal bouquet). My venue has a lot of character, and decorating “too much” will take away from the venue. So there won’t be a whole lot of decor. Just centerpieces and some candles. That’s about it.
