diy Styled Beachside Picnic Elopement Help

Hey Ladies and Gents!

We scrapped all our traditional wedding ideas and have decided to plan a boho beachside elopement this summer (pictures ideas below). Now for the hard part, the rental company we wanted (that specifically works with styled picnics) wants to charge the same amount for the picnic as for the delivery. If we had the money, we would do it in a heartbeat, but we can't justify spending so much on a 2 hour picnic for just us two. My fiance heard the initial picnic price and was totally for it until the delivery/set up fee/clean up fee doubled it. I felt equally shocked by the price tag... So we have opted to go the DIY route, and I honestly don't know how this could logistically work but I'm gonna make it happen.

Has anyone DIY a styled picnic (elopement, wedding, engagement, etc)? Or did you DIY your beachside wedding? How did you get all your stuff to the location? How did you navigate tides? How did your florals hold up and did you prepare them on site? Did you consider nightfall and lighting? Did you get ready beachside? If you're from the PNW or Oregon area, what vendors did you use?

Does this styled picnic idea seem too much to do try to do on our own? Could I potentially pack up a wagon with all our things? Does anyone have table alternatives that are easy to carry? Should I just suck it up and pay the money for a stress-free evening (even though I'd be paying more for the picnic than my photographer...???) I'm looking to see if there are other styled picnic companies in the area... but haven't found many.

Thanks!

I've done a styled setting for a friend's engagement pictures. It wasn't hard. We bought all the itmes from vintage stores and she had a bunch to work with already. We set out a small table and they took pictures. At the beach, if you're worried about things flying away, anchor them with garden spikes or putty for place settings.

For my bachelorette party sleepover, I rented out a picnic set-up just like the one you posted to beautifully decorate my apartment without having to spend money on decorations. It was the best $300 my fiancee and I spent, and the only thing I contributed to financially when it came to my wedding. I ended up finding this rental company that specializes on these picnic setups through Facebook, so I recommend looking for perhaps maybe another rental company to outsource from. I guarantee you that if you were to outsource all these items yourself for your beach elopement, the price will definitely end up being more than the $300 my fiancee and I spent for our picnic setup.

What part of Oregon are you in? If you're in Southern Oregon/Southern Coast, check out these folks for possible grazing/picnic packages: https://www.wildlyplatterco.com/

I started looking all over Facebook and found someone who was doing a Valentine’s Day picnic service for couples in my area. I reached about Day Of Coordination for our picnic and she was super helpful and well within our budget. Since I have my vendors already in mind, she said if I just need beach scouting, set up, styling, and tear down... as long as I can provide all the materials, she would definitely make sure to get it ready. Going this route allows me to stay within my budget for sure. Thanks for your advice!

I’d reach out to them and see what they can do! They might have a suggestion of similar vendors who can help.
