DIY Cornhole Boards

OregonEmily, on July 17, 2014 at 10:03 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 25

I wanted something classy enough to be in a wedding, but not so "weddingy" that it would feel out of place at a tailgating party or in our backyard.

We used this website for measurements and instructions:

http://www.cornholehowto.com/

The whole project cost around $50 and I'm thrilled with the results.

My FH plans to make these as a gift to his groomsmen! I'm adding this to my watchlist so he can have another guideline on how to make them. He's a pretty crafty guy.

    Those look so nice!

@Archer- I do plan on painting our name and wedding date somewhere inconspicuous (like on a side board). I don't want them to be overtly "wedding cornhole boards" because we plan on having these for a looooong time. But something subtle would make them a sweet keepsake.

Maybe you could do a monogram letter on the board? that wouldnt scream weddingy, but would still be cute

I love those! They turned out great! I was thinking about making some, but feeling too lazy. Already got enough on my plate!

Very nice! DH really wanted corn hole boards so for his birthday last year I bought unfinished boards and painted them up red & gold with a SF 49ers logo. That was enough work for me, I couldn't imagine actually assembling the things! Kudos!

Perhaps just add your last name to the edging, so its not wedding but its a "family" item.

i'd love to do this as well!

Love it! I am in a cornhole beer league and we started last night. So much fun! I like the idea of adding your last name. Because I also have a sick sense of humor I'd probably put in small print on the sides "the couple who cornholes together....stays together."

@Milwaukee- Thanks. That's really sweet! I'm excited about all the fun little details. I just hope they all come together well!

    @Andi- That's a really great idea! I think I'll do that!

@Koch- Lol. I like your style. What's a cornhole beer league? Did you turn it into a drinking game? Sounds like fun!

We play this game all the time and DH is in the process of getting together things to make a set. Thanks for posting the website to get the info!

My cousin had those at his wedding but they put a big N on them (first letter of last name) and one says Martin and the other says Emily...No wedding date or anything, just their names.

Emily in Philly we have a lot of "beer leagues" where they have games set up at bars and you technically play competitively. Last night was the start of the cornhole league at a beer garden right in front of the Philadelphia Art Museum's Rocky Steps. Its a lot of fun!

So cute! My dad made ours and I haven't seen it yet. He was upset because I wanted it to be more of a bean bag toss where there is more than one hole, he said it wasn't "regulation" haha. But he did it anyway! Ours has 4 wholes with varying points! It's not "weddingiy" but our bean bags are.
