Disney Wedding?

LutaWolf, on April 14, 2010 at 3:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 23

Has anyone done a Disney wedding or been to one. Is it way more expensive or cheaper? My current budget is 10,000 for a small beach wedding, should I not even think about a Disney Wedding?

Like a disney themed wedding or a wedding at disney land/world? I have seen a lot of disney themed weddings and the cost is based mostly on how much you diy like any other wedding theme.

I'm actually getting frustrated early on lol no suprise there and someone suggested that you can do a beach type wedding at Disney *Love Disney!* at Disney and though it will be guest wise smaller it would be within budget.

Well if you want to do a wedding at the Disney World or Disneyland Theme parks, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that is WAY out of your price range. My mom works at Disney, and my first job was at Disney. In matter of fact that is how i met my FH. He worked at EPCOT. I have photos of us in our costumes on my profile. Disney wants a minimum of $12,000 for a weekday wedding, a Friday and Sunday is $15,000 and a Saturday wedding is $20,000. (at least those were the prices I remember. The they have a minimum on the food too. You have to pay $125 a person for the food alone and that does not count the taxes of tip. Their photo package starts at $2,000 and if you have it at EPCOT, you can't use an outside vendor for photos. (it because of the back stage area, your not allowed to take picture back there. It was the same rule if you are an employee. If your caught taking pictures backstage, your fired) Count.

The centerpieces were insane expensive too. If you wanted flowers, I think it's like...either $150 or $300, I'm leaning more to the $300 mark for some reason. I know they are expensive and that is the minimum for just 1! If you want Cinderella's carriage it's like $3000. My wedding would have cost like $25,000 - $30,000 Smiley sad

So is it Disney Land or World or neither? I think the venue is pretty expensive, though. I know that I toured a venue on Monday that wanted $5000 just to use the space. No food or drinks or anything included. If you only have $10,000, it may be out of budget. If you want to stick to the beach theme... I know of dozens of beaches on the west coast that will be available during spring break, but it would probably be waay to far to travel. Also, personally, I despise both Florida and California.

Come to think of it, those were the prices of a Wishes wedding. They have another one but it's for 20 people or less. The minimum expectancy is $7,500. To be honest though, it can very easily become more then that. I started looking at their main page and say some of their new packages.

Lol 10,000 is what I want cause I'm a bargain hunter lol part of me really wants to knock off some ppl and just get down to basics and enjoy myself. The other part is thinking about my friends that might not be able to make it because of money issues *sigh* hey but it was worth asking and getting openions about! Thanks for the info!

I think if its is going to be a destination then it will be easy to keep the guest list down. A lot of people will not want to travel.

I love DISNEY, and would have loved to do a Disney wedding, but it is rather pricey.. but you can always do your own "Disney Styled" wedding. That's what I'm doing.. just take your love of Disney and use it in your wedding.. its actually good because you can keep your budget in check and still have your "magical day"

Having been to a Disney wedding that was outside. They don't close that area off. We did get to see some of the "backstage" areas of Disney when we were transported to the reception site. Some of her pictures ended up with random Disney guests in the shots. I personally think doing a Disney Themed wedding would be more affordable and probably more enjoyable then having a Disney wedding.

I think you can do a wedding at Disney for that amount it just would have to be very small... like 30 people. We had looked into it b/c FH and I are also huge Disney lovers, but because my family is so big and close it wouldn't feel right to not have everyone there and we could not afford the big wedding we are having now if it were at Disney.

Becca, ...Idea: make your guest list small and then after the wedding, have your friends come for some theme park fun? or would it be cheaper to have them be at the wedding? Just a thought...

I looked into it and if you get married at the... Disneyland Hotel, I believe it was...for a little less. Wouldn't hurt to contact them.

I'm praying I can get married at Disneyland. Crossing my fingers my guys side will pitch in. Disneyland is one of our favorite places, we had season passes for years until we moved to Texas b/c of the military Smiley sad

Well I sent the info to FH for him to look at and think about, the garden one by the lake is very much within the budget that I want lol but the thing is that I really doubt it will be in budget for some of our friends. One of the reasons we are looking at large beach houses for a beach wedding here, is some of our out of town close friends have hit a financial bump and aren't going to be able to afford hotels.. one of them being the best man.. That my FH will no doubt not be able to do without. And we aren't going to be able to accomodate ppl at a Disney wedding.

I was really into Disney for a long time. Now it really isn't my thing any more. I feel like it is not the same Disney that it was when I was a kid (which really wasn't that long ago), and I get kind of sad about it. I do think it is very awesome that you are considering doing a Disney wedding though.

Off Topic: My three year old son has been choosing to buy Disney Princess toys instead of trains and cars lately. I am so proud!
