Your parents meeting FH's parents...

loveat1stsite, on March 14, 2010 at 3:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Have your families met FH's parents before? or are you waiting till the rehearsal dinner/wedding festivities for them to meet. My mother really wants to meet them prior to the rehearsal dinner, but I have so much going on, I'm just not sure when it's going to happen. Is anyone else getting pressure from their families about this?

If both sets of parents live relatively close, you can go out to dinner together or invite them to your place for a casual get-together.

I think it's nice that they meet before the wedding, but it's not absolutely necessary. Will your moms meet at your shower?

My parents and husband's parents met after we were engaged, at a BBQ we had at our house. Then, our moms interacted for my shower, and all parents went with us for our food tasting.

Our parents met before our engagement. we had them meet us at a restaurant sort of between where they both live, and we made sure that we picked up the tab. totally neutral place, and we paid so that who pays wasn't an issue either. i really suggest having them meet as soon as possible, it makes everything a lot easier.

Im trying to contain the wedding stuff to the office cuz it kinda looks like a wedding has puked all over the house at this moment..lol and they will meet my parents at this time but as for FMIL and FFIL if they are able to make it to the wedding it will be around that time that my parents meet them and I will meet my FIL's early April for the first time... thats nerve racking as well sense they don't even know that I exist... stress on high with that one.. My parents haven't met his yet, which is weird because we've been dating on and off for like 8 years and live in a really small town. Since we are buying a house they will probably be meeting within the next couple of months though since i'm guessing both sets of parents are going to be helping us move...But hey who knows his parents may choose to not help. If that happens then we are going to have a BBQ this summer with both sets of parents and our wedding party so that everyone can have a chance to meet and mingle and see our new house :-).

Our parents met the day before the rehearsal. Since they live in seperate countries there was no other way. Our mothers had eachother added as friends on facebook though so they would discuss wedding things there which made it easier

My parents live about 2.5 hrs away from FH's parents. FH and I live in the middle. We were planning on going out to eat with them, it's just that lifes been so hectic. I'm pretty sure that they have clashing personalities so it should be interesting.

No they haven't met yet. They live across the country from each other. So they'll meet sometime in the week before the wedding, likely at a dinner. I don't know if I'll be having a bridal shower, probably not. Nor a rehearsal dinner. So a casual dinner at Olive Garden may be in the plans somehow. It will be weird though. I talk to both my mom and FMIL every week....so it's like 2 worlds colliding.

My mom and my FMIL met at our engagement dinner. We only invited the "heads" of the family and the wedding party so they all had a chance to meet each other. But my mom sat all the way at the end of the table and was being antisocial. But FMIL got to talk with my 2 grandmothers and my aunt.

My parents live in southern Missouri; FH's parents live in North Carolina. They'll be meeting at the wedding--my parents won't be getting in until Friday morning, and the wedding is Friday evening. His parents will actually be arriving in Vegas on Wednesday, so I had really hoped for us all to have dinner Thursday night, but with my dad's teaching schedule they really couldn't leave any earlier.

I actually just got an email from his mother asking for my parents' address to send them a card, which was nice, although I'll probably have to hassle my mom to produce SOME kind of response... she's terrible at correspondence. I don't think they'll hate each other, but I don't think they have very much in common, either.

Our parents haven't met yet. FH and I are trying to keep it that way. We all live in the same town, just different ends of town. Personally, I don't think our families will get along too well, and I don't get along with my mom very well at all, so FH and I are trying to keep them apart for now. My family is from another country and we're here due to political asylum. Because of this, our families have different values and priorities. I'm so not excited about them meeting.

I'm kind of scared for FH's parents to meet my parents. His parents are all about manners and propriety, and his dad is a salesman so he's got lots of experience meeting new people and so he's always making sure he looks and acts presentable. My family is a bunch of loud obnoxious rockers with a hippie mentality. I think they might overwhelm. lol.

We had a meet and greet dinner in November. It was so fun. Both families met each other. (Parents, aunts, cousins) We knew that we were getting married, but I didn't know when he was going to pop the question at that point. Gosh we had so much fun. Everyone is asking when we are doing it again.
