Uh Oh...Our tasting didn't go so good :(

Mrs.Davis n 2011, on April 20, 2011 at 8:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

We had our tasting at our venue today and we didn't like any of the choices...the flavor was nasty and some of it was cold.

We have to schedule our planning meeting so we are going to see if we can make our own menu and just pray that they cook it right. Smh

OH NO! That stinks! I really hope you can work it out. Can you bring in your own caterer or do you have to use theirs?

I'm so sorry to hear that. I had my tasting before I signed my contract. Food is really important to me and I wanted my guests to not only be able to eat the food, but love the food.

This happened to me and after the second bad tasting we were told that we had mistakenly been double booked we asked for our deposit and ran like hell!

Our new venue catered an event for fh's job and we all raved about the food so thank God it worked out!

    Good luck!

Wow, I'd definitely be telling someone there that you were very underwhelmed and actually disappointed. Tell them that you expect it to be much better for your guests. Snd also tell them you wish you could have tasted the food prior to booking the venue.

You don't have to be bitchy about it, but definitely let them know you aren't happy.

Yes we have to use their caterer

@Edwina....they only offer group tastings and today was the only day before our wedding

The food is very important to me to and I promise something is going to be worked out before they get another dime

That seems to be ridiculous. I guess they know that their food is crappy that's why they do it that way. I did have a venue tell me that they didn't offer tastings until you book, and I asked them what was the point? They couldn't give me an answer, so I passed on them. Did you tell them that the food was nasty?

A GROUP Tasting? Wonder what the other brides/grooms were thiinking? I definitely agree with MelloJean - tell them how disappointed you are and you hope they won't let you down on the most important day of your life! Caterers are supposed to know better!

I am sorry your tasting didn't go well. Just talk to them about your likes and dislikes. Does your contract states that you can only have one tasting or a group tasting? I had a tasting at the first venue we were going to book and the food was awful. We had our tasting at our venue on Saturday and the food was good. However, we did want some tweaks to the style and the venue was more than happy to accommodate us because we are paying for it.

I would definitely have a conversation with management and let them know how disappointed you were and that you would like another opportunity to sample some of the menu choices before your wedding. You are paying for it and they should want to make sure you are going to be happy with everything. I understand that they do group tastings but if you were that unhappy others probably were too.

I am so sorry to hear that you didn't like the food Smiley sad. I really hope the second tasting goes well. I used a caterer I knew from my old job who cooked us exactly what we are eating (except for the ham) for the wedding. Now is the food "wedding food"? Some people don't like the taste of wedding food.

@ Mrs. Hardcastle....what is wedding food?

This is what we had last night:

Canapes-tray passed- mini beef wellington (these were good ) dried tomatoe basil rolls (FH liked those)

    French lemon chicken (gross)

    Roast Pork Terderloin (cold)

Marinated shrimp (now I was really pissed about this because shrimp is my favorite food....they were just nasty....thet tasted like vinegar Smiley sad

Steamed vegetables (these were ok...just cold)

Potato Gratin (Damn, I almost threw up....these were nasty)

    Cold rolls with NO butter
