Eye make up can bet set well with the proper base- colors- and setting spray (its' hair spray for your face)

@Kaitlin-I have the Jacklyn hill palette- and it makes me pretty happy- I wish there was a neuatral transition shade in there- but well. for 26 bucks I'll just use beaches and cream from make up geek and stop complaining. LOL

3lol - I hear Maybelline has great eyebrow products. If you want to splurge, Anastasia powder brow duo! It's $26 here but I use it every day and it lasts me several months. It doesn't come with a brush though so you'd have to but a stiff angled brush separately. It's very natural looking.

ELF is definitely hit or miss, I found their eye shadows to be pretty garbage. I bought two palettes and a few baked trios all at once to try and found it was like using dollar store make-up. Maybe I just got a bad batch or something? I would love to try more of their products, but they can't really be found here in Ontario and the shipping from the States was outrageous.

In terms of dirt cheap brands I love Essence. It's around the same price as ELF, but unfortunately far less selection.

I'm dabbling with Sephora right now, even though my wallet is telling me no. LOL. I'm loving their liquid foundation and color lip last collection. I just bought 'burgandy spirit' and I'm totally in love!

Kat Von D makes a great, super thick foundation, but at $42 CAD a bottle I can't afford it.

So if ELF is hit or miss, which things are hits and which are miss? The primer and foundations are good but the shadows are bad? Is that the consensus?

I agree with Melanie, I would avoid the eye shadows from ELF ... I think they have pretty good blushes, you can buy four of them in a single compact for maybe less than $10? I don't remember the exact price, but I also have a few makeup brushes from them and they have actually lasted a good amount of time for blush/bronzer. If you're looking for eye shadows try Morphe Brushes, you can buy their palettes of 35 eye shadows for about $23 (or less since they are having a sale right now!!) and they are great quality.

No not all liner and mascara is waterproof and I would recommend not using waterproof mascara daily because it's very drying. . I actually don't use waterproof unless it's raining or I have concerns about moisture. My setting spray usuay locks it in for daily use, workouts and runs. But I know I'll be using waterproof for the wedding! Lol

So . here's my concealer routine . I was it pretty heavy handed tonight . eh whatever. I did switch from my brush to my beauty blender because of that.

Lippie is ruby woo by mac. . I'm deeply unhappy with my eyeshadow in terms of colors . but. It looks nice. I have a brand new red costume tonight and I was at a loss for what eye make up to use!

I seriously want all the Naked palettes, but I have so much makeup already and they're $54 each. Are they worth it once I use up some of the stuff that I have?

@kahlcara I think so. Naked 2 is definitely my favorite but each palette is versatile in their own way. There's also some dupes if you didn't want to spend the money right away.

I have two coastal scents naked knockoffs. They are pretty good for the price. I used them.... A lot.

For bags ... take it from me who is 48 yrs old ... orange tinted concealer. Works wonders. I use NYC concealer (not sure of the name right now) orange concealer. I bought it a few months before the wedding - FUNNY story: I am sitting in the makeup chair getting my wedding makeup done ... I brought my entire makeup arsenal, and used mostly my makeup ... I was seriously wondering why I didn't get some sort of discount for that - I mean I think I used all of my own makeup. At one point, I said something about the bags under my eyes and how I wanted the MUA to work her wonders for this special day, and I asked her what she had, that I had some "cheap" undereye orange concealer ... she pulls out what she had, and it turned out she had the same exact NYC orange concealer that I had. So, I basically told the MUA that a product in her makeup arsenal was cheap, haha ... I am a makeup junkie.

LOVE the Naked pallettes. My favorite is the third one. Also, for concealer, I also use the UD Naked concealer. And to those who watch Jaclyn Hill, high five! I love, love, love her tutorials.
