Ideas for our exit!

Mrs.D, on May 14, 2016 at 2:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Okay, so I'm getting married at venue that has a lot of restrictions. No flower petals, bird seed, bubbles, rice, sparklers, etc can be used. Basically anything that makes a mess or start a fire is a no.

My wedding coordinator suggested wedding wands for our exit, which seem cheesy. I just can't picture grown men waving a ribbon wand around! (I've seen glow sticks used, but that's not really us.)

Any other ideas that you guys have seen done? Or did I cover it all?

Or just tell me wedding wands are acceptable. Maybe I just need to hear that. My colors are blush, gold, and white. So I'm also thinking they won't show up in pictures well or look very festive.

Am I over thinking this?

What about releasing balloons? Just read an article where a couple did this, and it seemed like a cool alternative.

I just went to a wedding that had both ribbon wands and little flags. The flags were made of burlap and lace, and looked really nice with the feel of their wedding. But I don't really have any ideas that you haven't listed already.

If your wedding is outside please don't release balloons!!!!!! It is HORRIBLE for the environment, as animals eat the balloons and it kills them. I really wish they would outlaw releasing balloons...

We are doing fibre optic wands and these little flashy rubber wands that all my friends are calling "disco dildos". At least they're colorful

I'm not sure what your budget is but we have the same restriction at our church. We are releasing butterflies.

Whatever you do don't do a balloon release.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the wands, especially when you don't really have many other options lol. I think they'll look plenty festive Smiley smile

I don't know that I'd like the ribbons, I think just sending you out cheering would be fine.

I agree with you on the wands. Grown adults with ribbon wands, so awkward. I really don't know why this is a thing

I like the idea of balloons! I also was at a wedding where they put little bells on what looked like the thicker Popsicle sticks. Decorated them up in their colors, added their initials and put a bow on it. Everyone waved that. It was cute and came out awesome in the video. The sound on the video was also really cool.

I think the wands are fun, you could also do glow sticks. That's what we did-got the 22" necklaces from Amazon, some people got them out early for dancing then just used them for the exit.

Do not do balloons or butterflies. Those are HORRIBLE suggestions.

Rachel, all the butterflies will be dead and you will be aiding in their extinction.

    Can you do biodegradable confetti?

ETA balloons will kill birds and whales and everything else.

Can you throw something like dry lavender? It's beautiful and it doesn't harm the environment.

Budgets not a problem. If I told FH I wanted to release virgin gold toucans from South America he'd start making phone calls, haha! I decided to suck it up and just bought some nice wedding wands, with one strand of ribbon personalized with our names and wedding date. I'm just going to have to laugh at the slight ridiculousness of my dad etc waving a ribbon wand around. Bahahahaha!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. We just aren't allowed to throw anything at all, because of the type of venue it is.
