How long??

2 years exactly. But it gives time to save and plan. After deciding on a budget and a rough number of guests we found our venue (at 2015 cost!) I got the photographer and DJ I wanted. Already have my dress. And little stuff like the vases for centerpieces. I try to get a few things each month so it's not a huge chunk of change all at once. Plus, this last year has gone so fast! I'm down to 13 months and some days I stress we can't make this happen! 2 years is perfect!

Do the costs of venues typically change year to year?

We did one year omg it went by so fast! I couldn't see how we could've done less

We did a 9 month engagement, and I can't say I felt rushed or stressed over it. Except if you count my one bridezilla moment over the ceremony chairs. DH claims (almost a year later) that he still can't feel his thumbs from all the chair painting they had to do three days before the big day!

Our engagement will officially be 9 months but we started planning it 11 months out. Never too early to start planning, but keep in mind that over 2 years your ideas may change a lot so just make sure you won't change your mind on anything you have to put a nonrefundable deposit down on!

Ours is just over 16 months. 38 days to go!

We got engaged in October 2015 and will be married in December 2016, so just over a year when it's all said and done.

Ours will be about 9 months. We got the heavy lifting out out of the way and just need flowers,cake and attire now. Engagement length can vary widely though I have friends that waiting less then 6 months and then over 2 years

2 years isn't that long away. It'll be here before you know it! Start saving your pennies now b/c it'll make things easier closer to the time when deposits and other things are due.

We talked about a year and a half but that was too far for us! We both settled for less than a year to give us some time to plan and help us budget

We went a bit unconventional. We booked our venue 24 months before and didn't get engaged until June 10, 2016. Our wedding is Nov 2017 so...math... Roughly 19 months?
