How can I stall my guests...??

Rhonda, on August 5, 2012 at 3:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

My wedding begins at 5pm and I'm guessing the wedding will be over at 5:30-5:45pm, my hall is opening the doors for my guests at 6 pm. Since my hall and church is not that far from each other, I need to slow them up. May start the wedding at 5:15. Were a Chritisn couple having a Christian wedding. So that should be say 20-30 mins long. Suggestions

Have a receiving line. Include everyone in it, including your parents and grandparents. They can kill another 15 easily.

Since it may be a very hot day, I would have some coolers with water for your guests to enjoy as they travel. Getting those bottles distributed could kill another 10. If you don't want the standard Coleman cooler, put them in these wine tubs. That is what we are doing for Cate's wedding. We have personalized labels from Oriental trading.

I wouldn't worry too much about stalling your guests. even if the hall is close to the church, they'll still mingle a little bit at the church and probably watch you take some pictures before they make their way to the hall anyway. once they're there, they can just hang out there for a few minutes. no big deal.

I would start the wedding on time. If you start late, that is going to eat into your picture taking time after the ceremony. Your guests will be fine. They will go get gas in their car, go and use the bathrooms, have a quickie in the parking lot.... they will be fine.

Forum Foul...Hayley, you know this old tart laughs so hard she wets her pants. How did you know Frank and I have made "pit stops" for quickies in between weddings? Ifyou say you have film, I am really concerned.

Guests won't leave the ceremony as soon as it's over. My guests hang around for about 15mins interacting with each other.

All right now, cut that out! Our wedding/reception is at home so there will be no time for quickies and it's likely someone would come looking for us. Since everyone will have a camera....well, I shudder to think LOL!

Sorry @Rhonda - we really didn't mean to hijack your post! I agree that you should start your wedding on time. Guests tend to hang around for at least 15 to 20 minutes after the service so you should be fine for time. I do like the idea of a receiving line though.

Honestly I think you'll be ok. It's not a whole lot of time and maybe you can get in a few photos like Linda said.

Mrs. S....I just spit a moutful all over the darn monitor. LMAO

    Linda...There is always time. : )

    Raechel....Sure you did!

Sorry Rhonda for highjacking. I am a little over the top tonight. My daughter is about 2 hours away from her ride from FL. This could be the last bit of sanity I have until Sunday, August 12th. : )

Yes seriously, it's going to be fine. Even without quickies, it takes some time to leave the church, get into the cars, park, etc. It's not really a huge break.
