Hair Poll - I'd love your opinion, ladies!

Bright Eyes, on August 10, 2010 at 10:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

So all of these recent hair posts have gotten me thinking. Like many other brides, I started growing my hair out for the wedding. And then, after the ceremony, I was planning on doing the wife chop. FH loves my hair short, as do I, so that was NOT a difficult decision to make. Anyway, here's my dilemma.

I've been having a sudden and nearly irresistible urge to cut my hair lately. I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about. But it got me thinking: do I REALLY want my hair long for the wedding??? I mean, our wedding will be pretty laid back. I wasn't even going to wear a veil anyway, just a white flower. So what's stopping me from hacking it all off, curling it in tight ringlets for the wedding, and just wearing the flower as planned? Conundrum is right. So what about you ladies? What made you decide to grow it out/keep it short? Does it really matter??

This dilemma kind of goes along with the whole you-should-look-like-yourself-on-your-wedding-day thing. Thoughts?

I go with looking like a spruced up version of yourself. I vote for short hair with the flower.

I completely agree with the idea that you should look like you, just a lil fancier.

Hmmmmmmmmm, I've been trying to grow my hair out for awhile but it just doesn't wanna :-/

It's shoulder length so it's not super short but still. Do what you feel is right. Why'd ya want your hair long in the first place if you both like it short? Esp when there are clip-in hair extensions you can add if you should change your mind last minute. Just something to think about.

    Thanks, mellojean! Smiley smile

I'm definitely still considering it, as I love the long-hair bridal look, but I'm starting to feel that short may just be more...practical. We're having a beach wedding, and wind won't mess up my short curls. FH is no help at all: he's been begging me to cut it since I showed him a picture of me with short hair!

My mom did what you're talking about for her wedding last month. She spent two years growing it out and it was as long as mine. Then she just hacked it all off. I thought she looked really pretty, personally. I don't see the problem with it, especially if you don't plan to attach a veil.

This is about my hair now - it's just not black anymore. I'm on the right, that's my sister on the left.

For me I wear shorter hair in the summer and longer in the winter. I like the ability to hid the back of my neck from the elements and I hate scarfs. How do you see yourself on your wedding day. I am growing mine out but plan to do a updo in some elegant twist but thats the style I see when I look at my dress. have not found a insperation pic yet I like. I think short pin curls would look cute with a flower kinda vintage 20's look. I actually am buying flower for my daughter to wear in her hair for my wedding since I not letting her wear it the way she wants too. If you decide you want it longer extentions always are there as a alternative to your natural hair. @Carmen WW would not let me post pics on another topic either.

I never cut my hair for 24 years and then I went and listened to someone and permed my hair and it all died and I cut it all off so it could grow. (Stupid!) but I miss my hair! I miss it so much. Then FH purposed and now I got 1 year to grow my hair back. I feel naked. lol I have used mane and tail and special shampoos vitamins. If it don't grow here I come extensions. I want it long so on my wedding day if I want it up, down, curled, ect I can have it the way I want it! Smiley smile if you want it short then go head girlfriend cut that hair lol

Shdvl: If my hair is long, it will be curly and loose. I naturally have really curly hair, and, while it doesn't always work for me, I know I want it curly on my wedding day. If it is long, I'd do a side pony-tail or a side bun (think Taylor Swift). So...right now it's kind of 50/50.

Jessica: My mom didn't let me cut my hair for years. She loved it long, and she'd trim it every now and then, but it was long enough for me to sit on for most of my life. First chance I got, I hacked it all off. Didn't even reach my shoulders. And I LOVED it. The only reason that I grew it out was because I gained about 40 pounds and it makes my face look fat now lol!!

I love her hair, but I also wanted to comment on that pose. That's epic. Lol. She should blow this up and put it on the wall pointing at the door!! LMAO!

But seriously, it's difficult for me to imagine her with that much hair! She looks gorgeous with it short!

You should do whatever is going to make you feel the most beautiful and make you happiest. I'm growing mine out, but if you feel better in a shorter hairstyle go for it.
