Did you do anything special for the Groom? Here is my pre-wedding plan...

AnticipatingAugust2011, on June 28, 2011 at 12:29 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11

I hear my fh say that he wishes there was more things for the groom as I have had my bridal shower, my friends treating me to dinner, comdey shows, lunches, etc plus a bachelorette party. So...

I am throwing him a surprise "Groom Appreciation Shower" I am paying for 12 people to go bowling shoes and everything (Groupon $15) I will have a cake and favors of a CD with our picture that will have songs that I dedicate from me to him, decorations and everything. I really intend to show him how special he is to me and it's all possible because he popped the question.

Is anyone else doing anything...Ideas, ideas

I had my MOH change the Bridal Shower to a Wedding Shower so that he felt included. Other than that nope. But I like the idea .. I dont really think I have enough time to do anything just for him at this point. All of our parties will be group parties, couples rather than the girls and the guys doing separate things.

Cool! It was totality a last minute thing for me. I havent even picked the date for it yet. I know he knows that I love him and before things really get crazy within these last couple of weeks I want to do something special for him.

@Victoria C., I bet the wedding shower instead of gender specific was cool and fun. The bowling will be couples Smiley smile and I have told everyone that it's all about him and not me. lol!

That is very sweet of you. We're having everything together like Victoria, no bridal shower, it'll be a couple's shower (that's our it's always been in our entourage) and we're not having bachelor and bachelorette but we'll all be going out to eat the night before the wedding then go back and hangout at the hotel, the only time we're gonna be separate is when he goes play soccer the morning of the wedding with the guys, the girls and I might just go for a jog by the beach or sleeping

I know what you mean, with us gals getting all the attention -- even when it's time for babies, we get the showers and all. (FH and I actually talked about doing a couples' shower when that day comes along so he can be included.)

Apart from just running every idea by him and trying to make him feel like he's part of the process and it's NOT all about me, I'm working with a bakery to get a groom's cake delivered to our rehearsal dinner venue (since we can't use our actual venue space until the day of, we're doing a run through at the pastor's church and found a little restaurant nearby to have dinner afterwards).

Pretty sure FH has NO CLUE about the cake and it will be a nice surprise -- hardest thing was coming up with the look of it to incorporate a lot of stuff he likes and make it all about him.

Yeah, we decided to do a couples shower and we both loved it!! I am so close with my family as he is and we wanted everyone to be included in the celebration. He was unsure at first but we both had so much fun. It was also a nice way to get both sides of the family together before the wedding.

I think I am going to rent a hotel room at a very nice place nearby and treat him to a manicure and pedicure. Just a quiet evening for the two of us to let me take some time to tell him how much I appreciate him. I was thinking about doing a fun get together for him before hand (like bowling) but it is so hard for me to do anything as a surprise. He always finds out.

No I'm not planning anything special for him ... every time I tell him this wedding isn't just about me it's about us, I get nothing but a roll of the eyes and a yeah whatever it is all about you ... I just wanted to go down to the courthouse he'll slyly mention (yes he holds the fact I wanted a larger wedding over my head, trying to make me feel guilty) ...

What a very nice idea that is! Thanks for sharing it.

I am buying my FH an 18 year old bottle of Glenlivet. I had a custom label printed. Glenlivet does it free. I am also buying him glasses to enjoy a drink with his BM and son. I will send that and his gift(a bracelet) to his room.

We are not doing showers or bachelor/ette parties.
