Didnt Like hair trial, what do you say?

Mayra <3, on March 13, 2015 at 3:11 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

So initially I was going with a hair stylist that my MUA works with and recommended. BUT then I decided to have a trial with my girl who always dyes my hair. Bad idea Smiley sad I didnt like what she did at the trial. She tried to do somewhat of what I wanted but didn't completely finish the hair do. I wasnt happy with the "preview" i got. She said the day of the wedding she can do this and that but Im not confident she can. I booked with her the day of trial but now I want to cancel. What do I say??? I dont want to make it weird since I will be going with her to dye my hair before the wedding.

Did you tell her you didn't like the preview? If she thinks you were happy with it then I can see how that would get awkward. Bottom line you should be happy with your look. My cousin had her hair re-done three times the day of her wedding! before you cancel make an appointment with the other stylist and see if you like her better. You don't have to cancel right away. You can 'shop around' till you find the one you're comfortable with. If you need an 'excuse' you can say your MUA comes with a hair stylist at a package rate and you're going with her, you liked her preview and its cost efficient....or just tell her you liked the other stylists preview better. Either way, do what makes you feel comfortable

It's so wrong but I agree with @Kristy I've lied a couple of times to make getting out of a contract emotionally easier on myself.

Ask for a second trial with her or just cancel. A lot of people get trials with different people to see who they like. WHen I went in for my trial my stylist said it was more like a 'rough draft' it wasn't going to be perfect at the trial. I was between wearing my hair all down and curls or pulled to the side with a fancy design. Well I knew what I would look like in all curls, so I wanted the other design. I'm glad I did because I didn't really like it. I think I will prefer my hair all down, which is fine that was the point of the trial. I'm having my hair and makeup done again (not by the people I'm going with) before my shower/bach party (salon is closer to that location) and I will have them do all curls so I can get an idea. And plus them having my makeup done will give me more of an idea as to what I want/like.

Be honest with her. I hated my makeup and didnt say anything. Finally, i went to her again for another wedding and told her what I wanted- it came out gorgeous! Sometimes the first trial is exactly that- a trial. Now you can go back and say what you liked and what you didnt like and tweak it, She didnt spray my hair for my trial either so i had a lot of flyaways. When i expressed to her my concern she said she will have it for the wedding. If you trust someone to color your hair- you should be able to be honest with her and work with her

Just tell her you've made another plan. Acknowledge the awkwardness that you changed your mind but assure her you love the way she colors your hair (I assume that's true or you wouldn't be posting right?) and will see her for that. She's a professional. She'll be fine.

I'd really try again and just say I don't think that's the look I was going for- and in the meantime, find someone to compare it too...sometimes it just takes 2 trials to get what you want!

I have a friend who got married last September, and she's kind of been my wedding mentor to bounce ideas off of. We were recently talking about this very subject! She said that she was super disappointed about her hair. That she didn't like the woman who did it during the test run but that it was her usual salon so she felt locked in. And worst of all, that she felt her hair looked awful for the ceremony and that the test run went way better.

So that being said--go with your gut instinct. Don't let your loyalties keep you tied to someone if you didn't feel comfortable with the trial run.

When i left the trial, she said "let me know if you change your mind and want to cancel" so I really don't think she will get butt hurt but you never know. I do plan to have a trial next week with the other girl, and then I'll cancel with my hair stylist. I really hope she doesn't hold it against me because I love how she dyes my hair and I'll definitely need my touch up a few days before the wedding.
