Did you practice the first dance?

Nope. We knew we weren't doing anything fancy, just the "prom sway." No stress! (:

We will be because it'll be a modified waltz.

We were planning to but forgot... Id recommend practicing a couple times, just so it's a little more comfortable.

My friend was the same way at her wedding. Neither of them like to dance. It ended up looking like an awkward middle school dance. We plan to just look up some YouTube videos and do a little practice before so we at least know kinda what's going on

We did a lesson but didn't end up using it because my dress was a little to big for what we practiced. Where pretty good dancers though both took ballroom dancing in school.

LOL I'm glad to hear the "prom sway" is so common! That's 100% what FH and I do at every wedding we go to when there's a slow dance on !

We didn't, but I wish we would have. It's awkward to dance in front of 150 people -- difficult to look natural.

We want to avoid the "prom sway" and keep saying we're going to see if we can find a good, basic tutorial video on you tube that might make it look like we know what we're doing, but we haven't yet. FH brought up maybe going to one quick lesson at a studio, but we haven't put much thought into that either. We need to to something!

We had our first dance lesson this week, and will be going back for a few more. FH was so against it, but he ended up enjoying it. It's nothing fancy or choreographed, but I think it will look great in pictures and help us feel more relaxed when everyone is watching us. It was honestly a really good experience for our relationship, boosted FH's confidence, and was so nice to have that time together during this crazy time!

We should have. One of my uncles came up to me after and said that we were holding the wrong hands and apparently I was "leading" the whole time. Whoops.

We planned to practice but ended up forgetting. Neither of us like to dance but we just did the prom sway and it was fine. It took a minute to get used to all the eyes but then we were fine.

@Staci I would hate if someone said something like that to me! I hope if anyone noticed something like that, they would keep it to themselves!

I am so glad you posted this lol I am a TERRIBLE dancer and this was something I have been so nervous about.

We can't freakin' agree on a song, so we have been practicing dancing to a few different songs as we try to figure out what we are going to choose. Pretty sure we are just doing the prom sway anyway, but I am extremely nervous about having so many eyes on me so we will probably practice a few times.

Not really. Sometimes we dance around the house to music, so does that count? We started with the sway threw in some dips and twirls (some of which we missed) and we just talked and laughed. It was fantastic. My one recommendation is to make sure your DJ knows to fade the song out after a couple minutes! No one wants a full on 5 minute song for the first dance.

We took a few lessons and have been practicing sporadically since. Soooo happy we did, FH in NOT a dancer.. We can be silly and goof off, but when we tried to dance for the first time it was bad. lol Poor guy has no rhythm.

We mostly prom swayed, but our song had a few tempo changes, so we practiced when we needed to sway faster.

Yes but we could never do it the exact way every time so day of we winged it and it was perfect
