I get asked this question all the time. "did you pick out your ring or did your fiance?" well, i picked out the setting and he picked out the diamond. the reactions i get are mixed. some people totally understand, cause its a beautiful ring. your ring is something you have to look at the rest of your life. you should love it and i do. others, well they are like, he should know what you want. he prob asked your friends, sisters, and mother for advice and these people know you best, right? but we all have different taste. what they like might not be what you like.

so here's the question, did you pick out your own engagement ring or were you suprised? would you have changed anything? and i would love to see the bling!

I did pick out mine. Neither he nor I knew a darn thing about rings, so we went shopping together. From that we figured out what type of ring I liked best, and I left it up to him. But there was clearly one ring I was in love with, and that's what he got for me! I don't think it takes any of the romance out of it. You have to wear it for the rest of your life so you want it to match your style! Plus it was a lot of fun to go ring shopping together. And I had no idea when he would propose... he proposed on our anniversary and still managed to surprise me! :-) Sorry no pic with me to post right now!

He picked mine out. But he knows what I like. His sister actually went and helped him pick it out. It looks like a princess cut, but it is a circular stone, with a lot of different angles, so it gives it more of the "bling", that he wanted it to have. I couldn't have picked it better myself though. Exactly what I had in mind when I thought about being proposed to. I have really little hands, so I can't do too big of a stone. The ring looks perfect on my finger. lol

My FS picked out my ring. The main diamond has been passed down through his family for the past few generations. He had it set in this band and added the four smaller diamonds. I LOVE it and wouldn't change a thing about it.

He handled every part from creating the setting to picking the diamonds. I had no idea this was in the works for about 6 months lol.

I showed him several different rings just to give him a feel for what I wanted. He got me the one that was my favorite, but that I thought would be totally unrealistic!

Yes, he had some help. haha.

I picked out several settings and he chose from there. I had no control on the size of center diamond.

He told me that he wanted to help pick the ring. He wanted to make sure that I would have something loved. We looked online and found a few that we liked. He did the rest! It's perfect!

I knew i wanted something different and non-traditional. I am 16, my fiance is 20, he purposed last week and i could not be happier, he picked my ring him self and i would not change a thing about it. It came from a store called Ylang Ylang, it is a Sethi Couture Rose Cut Diamond Ring, yellow and orange sapphires surrounding the diamond. and it is absoulely perfect for me.

Well... I picked out the style, with the band, but he picked out the centre stone (I wanted the smaller centre stone... and he wanted to go bigger than a carat... he won; the centre stone is 1.4 carats)...

my fiance actually asked me to go with him to pick out the loose diamond because he doesnt know much about the 4 Cs & he was so nervous about me not liking the e-ring & messing up or paying too much,

he had 5 stones flown in to the store

and i got the choose the top 3 i like the best after looking through the jewelry loupe; he also knew i wanted the thinnest band possible on my e-ring, so we both designed/ chose my e-ring =)

I am currently in the process of picking out my engagement ring and matching wedding band. My fiancé does get to approve (or not) my choice.

I am SO picky and wear so little jewelry that I HAD to pick it out myself. I would have felt terrible if he has spend so much money and stressed about it, only to not like it in the end. So he picked where we looked and we found an amazing deal on a stunning setting! I used my old wedding set as trade in and picked an Aquamarine centerstone to cut down on cost. I LOVE Aquamarines!

Well in the begining he asked and I told him I like princess cut solitare. Months later he showed me some rings he was looking at while at work. He really liked three stone princess cuts. I started to fall in love with them after seeing so many. So when we would go to the mall, he would always go into jewlery stores to look.

Last April, we went into Kays too look at Mothers Day jewlery. Long story short, he ended up at rings...again, found one that was a steal. We walked away that day with my ring (well didnt leave with it, it had to get sized)

May of last year, he got the ring without me knowing and took me up to the Effiel Tower here in Vegas and proposed. So in a way he picked out but I also had a say in it.

First picture is it on my hand (bad picture)

Second picture is from when we got it appraised for the insurance company. (better pic)

My fiancee picked out my ring, but I told him what I like, and what kind of Diamond I want (I have always loved champagne diamonds)

He had my ring custom made for me, and I love the ring so muchSmiley smile I also ordered my wedding band from the same place to match my ring.

Our both rings are from Torkkeli Jewellery

Still waiting on my proposal, but know it's coming. He asked me which I'd prefer, to pick out the one I wanted or be surprised. I told him to surprise me. He's been looking at my pinterest boards for a while, so I know he has an idea for the styles I like.
