Did you have readings/who did you ask?

Audrey, on July 11, 2017 at 6:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Hey guys, working on putting together my ceremony and wanted to see what people thought about having readings incorporated. How many did you have and who did you ask to participate? Right now I'm looking at two but I'm unsure if there are two people who aren't bridesmaids/groomsmen who would be a natural fit for a reading. I'd love to hear thoughts and just what other people are doing.

Yes because we have a Catholic mass wedding, so it's required. There are two, and my FSIL is doing both the readings.

We're having a Catholic ceremony; but not the full mass. We are required to have readings done. Since we have 2, we each asked a person close to us that we wanted to do it. And we each chose a cousin to do it. It was a great decision. Ask anyone you want to or are close to to do it.

We had a reading during our ceremony and I asked one of my cousins to read it. I would ask someone close to you and/or your future spouse.

We have one reading, but the officiant is doing it as part of her overall message.

I'm going to have my goddaughter do one to include her! She will be 8 at the time of the wedding, and she is an excellent reader. My niece is the FG but I want my GD to play a part too.

We are having three, sprinkled throughout the ceremony. We have three brothers between the two of us, so we asked the three of them to each do one.

We will have 4 readings. 1 done by my dear friend who lives out of state, 2 of his aunts, and my aunt/godmother.

Ask your officiant. This is something I always ask my couples. Generally I do a couple of readings and if they have guests, there are usually two. Very often guest readers are people close to the couple that for one reason or another can't be in the BP.

Readings should flow with the rest of your ceremony, not be just plopped in because you 'need' a reading....

My Godfather is reading one and my FH cousin is reading the second. Also if you're doing a full mass, remember to have someone to walk the gifts down. We are picking our moms to do this. We enjoyed picking our verses together and putting together our ceremony Smiley smile
