Did you go into debt for your wedding?

Omg I worked about 75hrs/week and I nearly killed myself. Me and FH have our wedding paid off in full and I still have plenty of time to spare. What a relief!! Did you pay yours off with cash, card, loan?

We should have gotten a loan but went with 2 credit cards instead which now sucks but lesson learned. We live off a credit card monthly so that was/is our life card, the other 2 are for wedding things. I actually was able to get approved for a charge card in which we are getting our honeymoon through their travel center, it's no interest using the charge card for a year. I can't wait til income tax time! We are also banking on having money from the wedding for said honeymoon for spending. It is what it is. But we'll get through it.

We don't have a lot of debt and rarely use credit cards so we plan to take out a small loan to pay for the wedding and build more credit.

Just an FYI, credit cards are good for consumer protection, you just need to use them wisely. I'd actually advise that over a loan. Loans have lower interest rates, but if you plan to pay it back quickly, it doesn't really matter.

Nope! My parents are paying for most, the rest i am taking out of my savings. I work parttime too, i waitress two days a week (and have been for years), its "fun" money, ao right now that is being saved for the honeymoon.

No wedding debt for us! Since we both work full-time now, We have been taking a small chunk out of each of our paychecks to strictly put towards the wedding fund! We will go buy exactly what we need and nothing more (unless I find something on sale!) I have a planner and I have taken each weekend and written in what we must buy or pay off that week. That way we know what to use our extra money for. I am SO glad I did that because I was stressed out so bad wondering when I would be able to pay off our venue, or buy little things. Now it's all planned out! We also started out thinking we would have to pay every penny ourselves, but thankfully my mom bought my dress, veil, and sash. She's also going to help with other little things like reception decor, etc. FH's mom is paying for our honeymoon, favors, and some of our catering for the reception. When we found that out a HUGE weight was lifted. Oh, We've also decided that when we get a decent chunk of money (either from extra hours at work, or annual training for FH - He's in the military as well, then we will put half of that towards extra expenses for wedding and put the rest in savings to build our savings back up! Hopefully our plan works out in the long run!

I am very impressed with all of you having the ability to pay your weddings off before they happen. My FH are only going to be engaged for a total of 5 months so we did not have that much time to work on it. Because of a move I made to live near my FH, I have had some issues with my former home and am having to short sell it. Live happens and occasionally it kicks you in the gut, but we decided that getting married and working on things from one household set of expenses made more sense. So we will be lowering our bills by $1000/month when I move in to his house and we can hit the debts we have hard.

We bought a condo in december and a month later i lost my job. prior to that we had the deposits in for venue, photographer, entertainment. so its been rough. i finally go back to work this monday and we will get back on track for paying for the wedding. we are paying cash and checks and if we really really really have to, we can take from a line of credit, but we seem to be on track with paying it all off much before even considering the hole we got into without me having a job.

Nope! Our only debt is the houses and we hope to keep it that way. Our parents are being generous and we've both got good paying jobs so we're def lucky. If it comes down to it and we can't pay for our HM in cash, we will open a CC with an interest free period and pay it off without interest.

No debt. no dipping into our saving.

we decided to budget our wedding so we wouldn't have to alter our everyday lives too much.

our vendors were paid as they were booked. ^_^

We won't have any debt. Having a long engagement has been the best thing for our pocketbooks. We have paid for about a third of it already and the rest is sitting in a savings account and my parents also are giving us 1500 for the wedding that we will be using for the honeymoon. Anything we save at this point is going toward anything after the wedding.

Hell no. If we can't afford it it doesn't happen. We have been lucky that both sets of parents are helping put a certain amount toward to wedding. I have had a saving plan for the last year though to ensure that no debt is incurred.

My parents and DH's parents paid for all the big expenses, someone gave us our HM (all we had to pay was food and gas). The smaller things that I paid for I put on my credit card and then paid off (like I do with our living expenses every month). I have the Bank of America card that gives you 3% back on groceries, 2% on gas and 1% on everything else (plus an addtl 10% of that if you put it in a BofA account). I make money by using my credit card.
