Did you do your own bridal makeup or have it done professionally?

Sydney, on March 10, 2020 at 10:37 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 20
Ladies who have gotten married: did you hire a MUA or do your own? I feel pretty confident about doing my own but do like the idea of having someone do it instead - it’s super spendy so would love advice on if it’s truly worth it from past brides!

About to be bride, and I can't do my makeup to save my life. Nor would I be able to keep a curl either. I had my trial, and I was shocked that my hair staid vibrant and full all day. My makeup was on point too. I think its one less stress, but only you know your skills.

I had mine done by a professional. I’m fine with doing my own daily makeup or my going out makeup, but I’m not experienced in doing makeup that’s going to be photographed by a professional HD camera.

I had nine professionally done and was so happy I did. It was well worth the money.

    Hi Sidney,
I know it can be expensive, but it's your WEDDING DAY, with the quality of photography today, I can't take the chance that my makeup will look inferior! Have it done girl!

Splurge!! It’s your day to be a Queen! I debated in doing it myself or hiring someone, and after seeing my trial, I am so happy I decided not to do it myself!

Overheard my sister’s makeup quote for the wedding day and a trial run... I was astounded. Planning on getting my makeup done by my very talented cousin. I’m planning on gifting her makeup as a thanks!

Since I would look like Ronald McDonald if I did my own wedding day makeup I'm hiring a professional. When I wear makeup its eyeliner, mascara and lipstick.

I did my own makeup. I knew I wouldn't feel or look like myself if a professional did it for me. I only ever wear eyeliner, mascara, and brow filler so if a MUA caked a bunch of foundation and contour on my face, I'd be very uncomfortable and not at all look like myself. I'm SO glad I chose to do my own makeup, one of the best choices I made.

I did my own. I generally go pretty light on makeup and I didn’t want to pay a professional to go over the top and do it much heavier than I would. A lot of people say if you don’t wear enough makeup it doesn’t come out good in photos but I didn’t find that to be the case at all!

I can do my makeup. To an extent.
I get an insane amount of compliments on my eye makeup when I take my time. But contour, eyebrows, all that fun stuff, I'm so lost.
Plus, I doubt my hands and mind will be steady the day of.So I hired a friend who isnt a pro. But good at what she does.I'm going to sit my butt down in a chair that day, and get pampered and try to relax.

I am pretty confident doing my own makeup. I did it for my engagement photos and it turned out great! I feel every time I've had my makeup professionally done i just did not like how it turned out so since i'm so picky the best option i feel is to do it myself. I will be doing a TON of different looks to see what i am happy with, i am super nervous about it but i think i will be happier overall.

I had my makeup done professionally! I wear makeup everyday and am pretty good at it, but I didn't want to have to do anything on the day of my wedding. Such a great choice! My HMUA did an AMAZING job on my hair & makeup!

I had a professional do my hair & makeup. I'm fine doing my own makeup but didn't want to stress about putting on the perfect eyeliner or lashes or primer and making my makeup last 8+ hours.

I’m having it professionally done. I can do makeup fine, but my hands shake so putting on falsies is impossible and doing more difficult techniques is challenging so I really wanted a pro. My normal hair stylist did my engagement photo makeup and nailed it so I booked her for my hair and makeup for the big day!

I definitely agree with this! All along I planned on doing my own makeup - until I realized that doing makeup for flash photography is different than doing every day makeup.

Thankfully I found a girl on Facebook whose work I like & she had an opening available for our wedding day. I will have to travel to her - but, it’s only $75. But, my situation may be different...we’re not having a wedding party - so, I can afford to go to her.

I’m doing my own, simply because I have never liked how anyone else has done my makeup in the past. I stood up in my friends wedding last year...we paid a crap ton of money to get airbrushed. My makeup made me look old & the other products the girl used were cheap and I had a ton of dark fallout from my eyeshadow.. This was a company that was known to do incredible work. 😬 so I’m scared to pay a ton of money again and not feel my absolute prettiest. I’ll just buy some products, test them out for the next couple months & remove all anxiety I would have had from that aspect of our day.
