Did you do a trial before booking your makeup artist?

Lexi, on October 31, 2018 at 6:59 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 13

I'm not sure if I should do a trial before booking the artist, or if I should just look over the portfolio and book them, then have a trial a few weeks before the wedding. What did you do?

I booked first just because hair and makeup artists book up quickly! I went by reviews and who my wedding planner recommended.

I trialed before booking! I wanted to make sure it was what I wanted AND that it would stay on for hours after, I made sure to work out in it so I could see how shiny dancing would make me lol.

Booked first! But I looked at probably 100 blogs first of brides they had done and they were the number one recommended option from our venue

I booked, and then did a trial. It was so not good, she didn’t listen to what I wanted. So I ended up cancelling and losing my deposit.

I booked first, because I knew that hair and makeup artists in my area book quickly so I needed to snag my date before anyone else. The owner of the company then recommended that I do my trials about a month before the wedding, so that my skin and hair would be most similar to how it would be on the day of the wedding. It made me super nervous to book without a trial first, but I went for it. My hair trial was amazing but my makeup trial was less than perfect. After I gave my feedback, the owner offered a complimentary second trial to make sure they got everything right before my wedding. The second trial turned out perfect! Just make sure you research the heck out of any artists you’re considering, read all reviews and try to look at photos that may have been posted by brides who used their services!

I am going to do a trial before booking. I'm very particular about how I want my make up done so I'd like to see the MUA's technique before booking her. I actually go for my trial on Saturday. I'm starting early in case I do not like it and have to start the process over again of finding another. Also, to be able to lock her in if I do like how my makeup comes out.

I had a trial before booking since she did my makeup for engagement pictures, but I did not have a trail for hair before booking. Really nervous about that one, but I'm praying for the best!! Just read plenty of reviews and if you have to book before trials, you should be fine.

I did two trials before booking. Was hoping only to do one, but didn't love the first one. The second one was PERFECT and I loved it so much. So yes, I'll have to pay for another trial prior. But I'm okay with that since I love our HAMU artist way more.

Definitely do a trial before booking! I did a ton of research and I thought I made good choices but the first trial just didnt understand the look I was going for, even with all the pictures I showed them. I was so glad I hadn't already booked them. My final trial, loved everything about them

PLEASE DO A TRIAL!!! You need to always do a trial before booking anyone to do your hair/makeup for a wedding, 100% trial!

Read my experience- pics looked good online and then when he did my makeup it was horrible.
