Did you break in your wedding shoes?

nutmeg, on July 8, 2017 at 6:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

Hi all - I see lots of posts on finding your wedding shoes and lots of nice BAM pics of wedding shoes. But I am wondering, did you break your wedding shoes in before the wedding or did you wear them really for the first time on your wedding day? Or whats your plan?

I had my first fitting yesterday and started thinking about this. Maybe I'll wear them around the house so they don't get scuffy or dirty but I can still wear them in.

Let me know what you did or what your plan is! Seems like such a silly thing but a blister or two could totally put a damper on my day for sure.

I'm breaking mine in by wearing them around the house some. They aren't super uncomfortable, but I wouldn't want to wear them for the first time on the day of the wedding. I put them on and walk around for a few minutes about once a week or so. I've had them for a few months already so I'm slowly breaking them in without getting them dirty!

I have two pairs—wedges for the ceremony and flats for the welcome dinner and reception if I need them. I have been wearing the flats around, to work, to the store, etc. for the last month and they are definitely more comfortable now. I need to do that with the wedges. I don't think people will see my shoes much so I don't care if they get a little scuffed.

I am fortunate and also distressed by the fact that my shoes are super comfy right out of the box. I want to wear them now! If you are not so comfortable as I am, I definitely recommend wearing them around the house and also potentially getting shoe stretchers. You do not want to be in a mood because your feet hurt! Also, if they have slippery bottoms, it is not a bad idea to scuff them up on concrete. Ultimately, you need to be happy and SAFE on your wedding day!

I wore a pair of socks over mine and wore them around the house a bit to break them in.

I wore mine to work (inside only) and then had them professionally stretched at the shoe repair store. I have wide feet and wanted to make sure they didn't hurt from the start.

I only wore mine to one fitting before my wedding (they were flats). They felt pretty comfortable on my big day.

I definitely will! If there is one thing I hate it is the pain of wearing new shoes. :/ If I can get that over with at home instead of at the wedding then I will be golden.

My heels I wear around the apartment every now and then to break them in. For my keds, sometimes I wear them to work and class but not often. They don't feel like they need as much work as the heels do.

@Jaylynn- Good point about scuffing the bottom! My heels have a more rubbery bottom and I slip on the tile at the apartment.

I just had my first fitting and took my flats home to wear them around the apartment and break them in a bit. I don't want blisters!

I would defiently break them in, but only inside the house. I'm so clumsy if I took a step outside my shoes would be black and scuffed to no repair.

I've actually decided that I'm wearing ballet slippers. As I've gotten older, I cannot stand in heals/wedges that long. So, slippers it is.

I'm 5'3 and my FH is 6'1. While he is much taller than me, when we've ever taken a pic, I've always had on flats/flipflops or tennis shoes. So, the height differential doesn't bother me & I don't have to be close to eye level with him on my wedding day. I'd rather be comfortable all night! Lol

Also, I'm sure my dress will cover my shoes, so shoes aren't a big deal for me.

I know some people will disagree, but I def want to be comfy. My feet can sometimes give me problems if I don't wear the right thing.

DH and I took dance lessons for 6+ months before our wedding, and I wore my shoes for every lesson. It got me used to dancing in them, and broke the shoes in nicely.

My feet are a little wide at the forefoot so I needed to stretch them out a bit there. I filled ziploc bags with water, stuck them in my shoes, and put them in the freezer. It worked! I'll wear them around at home a bit more to scuff up the bottoms too.
