Did I miss the memo about white at wedding?

I have been to 4 weddings this summer and at each and every one I saw at least one guest sometimes more wearing white dresses. Is it no longer a wedding no no for people to wear white to the wedding? I would NEVER wear white to someone's wedding but I'm getting married in the fall and wanted to know...

I would NEVER wear white to someone's wedding but I'm getting married in the fall and wanted to know if this is something I should expect lol. Either way there i don't care if a guest shows up in a white dress but for my own sanity I just want to know how everyone feels about this?

I don't see an issue with black. I've worn black to several weddings. I always see a large crowd of people wearing black to weddings. I don't have an issue with red either. But white is just rude and disrespectful.

Omg I was thinking the same thing too. I have seen pictures posted by my photographer and some friends who attended weddings there seems to always be some rando in a white dress. Weird

A bit tangential to the discussion, but a lot of people don't look good in white unless they're super tan. It also shows dirt and between Labor and Memorial Day, is a fashion faux pas.

I wouldn't dare wear white to a wedding as a guest! It's rude and tacky, let the bride have her day!

Uhhh yeah no. No to wearing white to a wedding. I think it would really bother me to see someone in a white dress on my wedding day but I wouldn't really stress about it. I do think it's very rude and tacky of their part though. I would never wear white to a wedding, I feel like the bride should be the only one is a white dress.

I think it is an outdated rule. I personally wouldn't wear white to a wedding but I could care less if someone wears white to mine. It's obvious who the bride is. Smiley winking

I had a friend who wore white at my wedding, and I didn't even think a thing of it, nor did I care. I also don't think it's horrible to wear a nice black cocktail dress to a wedding either.
