Destination Weddings! !

Haily, on November 29, 2022 at 9:06 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

I have question, our wedding is in Puerto Rico and it is pretty pricey as it is.. is it mandatory to have a whole engagement party or would it be perfectly fine to just gather my bridal party both men and women and just have everyone get together? I'm trying to consider my budget and the wedding itself has already exceeded our budget. We're throwing our own wedding and it looks like we would be throwing our own engagement party and I just don't think I can afford it at this point.. HELP.

An engagement party is not required. You could skip it altogether, or if you really wanted to do something, you could gather just your closest friends and family and do a backyard BBQ or something low-key to celebrate!

An engagement party isn't necessary. The only other thing you should host other than the wedding would be a rehearsal dinner assuming you have a rehearsal.

You don’t need to do either of those things!

Engagement parties are always optional. It can be as simple as Costco pizza and beer in your backyard

I think that would be just fine for a small dinner with the bridal party a lonely. Because with that you have to do a lot preparation that needs to be done with drinks etc. I think you are doing the right thing bc destination wedding is pricey and you want to have money and not breaking your budget unless have too. And then unforeseen can happen there. We didn't do an engagement party we announced it by soical media or text messages. Go enjoy your destination wedding without any worries. Congratulations to you both

Why do you "need" an engagement party? đź’Ť Yes I get it, it's to formally announce your engagement, but is it truly necessary? Doing a destination wedding seems pricey already, I'd be happy having my close friends & family celebrating the both of YOU!
