Destination weddings

Have you checked out any locations yet? I know a lot of resorts include a wedding planner in their wedding packages.

The resort we used had a planner for us.

I’m having a semi-destination wedding. Semi because 80% of the guest including us no longer live in Florida but we still have friends there who could help out if needed. Having said that, I hired a month / day of coordinator. Most of the planning is done by me but I don’t want to stress out on the day of the wedding. In my case, it was worth it because my planner/florist/decor rentals are from the same company

Have you been to the destination before? If not, then it's likely a good idea to hire a wedding planner who has boots on the ground and understands the industry and vendors out there.

Regardless of if you have a full fledged planner or not, I would *highly* recommend a day-of coordinator (if you don't have one already through your venue). It takes a lot of last minute prep and communications and vendor management off your plate, so all you have to do is enjoy the day.

I had a "destination" wedding, but I used to live there so I knew a lot more than the usual sight-unseen destination brides.

View Quoted Comment I've lurked but nothing serious. I have noticed that which seems helpful. I'm thinking all inclusive will be better so I don't have to worry about outside vendors.

We got a planner and it’s prob the best money we’ve spent. She’s from the region, knows all the vendors, is super positive, has a great eye, and has been truly a godsend the past 2 years with all the ups, downs and uncertainties with covid. Highly recommend!

Hey there! We’re having a destination wedding in Puerto Rico and I started planning without a planner. After a couple of months I got stressed out and ended up hiring a partial planner. He helps recommend great vendors and helps with the venue timeline and will be on duty the day of. The fact that he knows the area and can be there on site when we can’t is incredibly helpful. I highly recommend at least a month if coordinator so you can relax and enjoy the day, and also so that things run very smoothly.
