Destination Wedding

Tracey, on August 27, 2020 at 12:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
This is mine and my fiancee's second wedding. We want it to be casual and fun. We were thinking either a destination wedding or having it local, possibly even at our house. We will be inviting about 40 people. Our budget is around 10k. Does anyone know if it's possible to have a destination wedding with that budget, as that would be our first choice.

It's absolutely possible to get married for $10k considering the only actual requirements are a license and officiant. Everything else is icing. Smiley smile

But whether you and your future spouse can have the wedding you both want for that price depends on way too many factors to determine without more information. When making your decision, just remember that destination weddings tend to cost the couple less because the guests are bearing more of the financial burden.

Maggie is spot on with destination weddings costing the couple less and guests more. When considering, you might also want to think about if your VIPs are financially and physically able to travel, unless you're okay with some not attending.

You definitely can use 10k and it be enough for the wedding. Would you be paying for your guests rooms or will it be at their own expense?

Thank you Shirley and Maggie for replying back! We have already mentioned the destination wedding idea to our close friends who are onboard. We also have 7 kids between the two of us, so they will definitely be coming! And probably his ex wife, too. I'm fine with making up our own music list and renting a mic and speaker system. And I have someone who can take pictures. The brunt of the cost would be catering, drinks and, of course, the venue and setting up places for family and friends to stay. We were thinking of either Sanibel/Captiva or going abroad.

If you get married in the off-season, you could really be in a good position. 10k is plenty

It'd prob be at their own expense since they'd prob be staying for a mini vacation themselves. If we could fit the wedding night stay into the budget, we would def do that!

Well if you aren't paying for your guest than it is definitely doable!

We are having a "destination wedding". My future in laws live there and my fiance grew up there lol. We are getting married 5/22/2021 in South Lake Tahoe CA. Our wedding is all inclusive, 40 people, for around $5000.
