Hello Everyone,

I'm in a bit of a pickle. I was initially going to get married in Fort Worth, TX, but things changed and I am now getting married in Montego Bay, Jamacia. I had already ordered my flowers and put down a deposit so I just cut down what I was getting and my deposit covered all of my bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages.

The kicker is that my florist doesn't ship flowers internationally. Has anyone ever shipped real flowers internationally, and what is the cost? I am worried about customs in Jamacia.

You'll have to check with the post office and customs office. Often, you're not allowed to take anything like flowers/fruit/veggies/etc internationally. I'd be very surprised if you're allowed to do this.

Hey! Congrats! I'm doing a DW to mexico and I can say that Customs won't allow flowers from another country in at least not Mexico, I'm having to order my flowers from a vendor thats local. Also the risk shipping flowers internationally seems to be pretty high, they can be damaged or wilt by the time they get to you, not to mention I'm sure next day shipping would be pretty high to start. Maybe you can use your deposit towards an event at home i.e bridal shower? Good Luck to you!

Thanks so much. Yeah, I just spoke with the resort and I most likely wouldn't be able to get them through customs. I'm just going to use the flowers for my wedding shower.

    This sounds like a nightmare.

I'd look for a freight forwarder or FedEx freight. IMO this isnt an order that normal international mail should handle. Truly youd need air fright with refrigeration, I'd guess youd be looking at over a grand, maybe 2. (I work in an industry where I ship overseas often)It might be more economical to cancel your florals, eat the deposit, and hire a new person on the island.
