I actually had my wedding in Mexico as well. We chose Playa Del Carmen. The experience was unique and unforgettable. The planning is a bit hectic since you have to take some stuff with you and you, plan not only for your wedding but for everyone’s vacation so it can be hard at times. The time there is great, you spend so much time with guest, you have fun more than just one day. Vendors in Mexico are AMAZING! What you want that they don’t have they make. If the table they offer is wood color and you want white they paint. Is very easy to find what you want. I posted a two discussion on my experience after the wedding that might help you.

Omg I looked at your pictures, discussion and vendors! I have a few questions. Did you go to an all inclusive and also reserve a venue outside of it? Can I know what a realistic budget would be for a wedding like yours?

Yes we picked an all inclusive resort for our guest to stay in so made it easier to eat with everyone most of the times since buffet offers a large variety of selections. My wedding venue was outside the resort so no vendor restriction. A lot more work but I was able to pick any vendor I wanted. Our original budget was $20k we then raised it to $30k but we did go over by a lot. I haven’t sit down to do the math because My heart can’t take it. We had top of the line vendors for photography (top of my head) $4000, videographer $2500, the venue alone was $5000. Food was $33 pp big buffet option and cooking in front of you for steak and shrimp. Bar was $35 pp, DJ $2700, flowers $3000, candle decor $900. We rented a lot of furniture for cocktail hour and reception but don’t remember the price since it was in pesos. We also spend a good amount in personalize items, my dress, husband got a custom tux. We had 45 guest total so 47 including us.

We are from Maryland and we got married on the beach in Florida. We had our wedding at the Hyatt Regency in Clearwater Beach and it was beautiful. We booked our rooms there, got married on the beach in front of the hotel and had our reception on the terrace so it was all in one place. Many of our friends came in Thursday so we got to spend extra time with them which was fun. The biggest thing for us was all of the stuff that we had to transport to the venue so plan to spend money on shipping if you can drive to your destination OR pay to have everything done for you which will cost a lot more money. I will say that our friends said they had never been to a better wedding and most people made it a mini vacation weekend which was great. It can be a great experience but make sure you have an on-site coordinator to help you with everything. Congratulations and good luck.

We got married in Cancun at the Now Sapphire. I would recommend it for sure! Way less stress, so beautiful.

Ohhh I'm booked there for my DW vow renewal. Can you tell me more about your experience? Do you feel like you got your monies worth or that you got nickled and dimed to death? Please share your details!

Would highly recommend. We had Ramón as our wedding coordinator and he was wonderful. We didn’t have 25 people for our ceremony/dinner party (we had 17) and he threw in a ton of extras to make up for the cost. Same thing with the taco party (30 people). He was very clear about the cost of the extras that we wanted (we upgraded tables/chairs/flowers) and was quick to respond. The resort is nice, the food and booze is good, everyone we worked with/met that week was fantastic. We are actually headed back for a week in a few months.

We’re going in March to check everything out now that the renovations are done I’m so excited! Ramon is our coordinator as well, I feel guilty sometimes asking so many questions but he’s always quick to respond. And I’m glad you felt it was worth it! Did you bring much with you in terms of decor, menus etc? Or did they provide everything for you?

We felt like the scenery spoke for itself and didn’t decorate much. We did however upgrade our centerpiece. I sometimes wish we added flowers to our chairs for the ceremony but it was an added expense that no one would remember and would be wasteful in my eyes.

Oops. Cont: We brought along welcome bags (higher quality draw string backpacks filled with sunscreen, aloe, motrin, chapstick, and an ‘agenda’). The agenda was just a what and where if Friday nights taco party and Saturday nights ceremony and dinner party. We also brought along personalized acrylic and marble coasters which doubled as escort cards and meal indicators. We asked our guests ahead of time which meal they wanted (we had the top package) steak, chicken, or a mushroom pasta dish and then had them color coded for those options with their names on them.
