Destination Wedding Welcome Dinner

Simone, on April 27, 2019 at 7:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Hi all,

We're having a DW wedding in Tucson (from NY) in my FH's hometown. Most of the guests will be locals we already know, so no need for them to come to the dinner. I'd love for our our of town guests to get a taste of the historic downtown with a welcome dinner on gorgeous rooftop bar. It's the perfect contrast to the wedding venue, which is nestled in the mountains. The place is 20 mins from the venue. Is it too much trouble to ask them to travel in an Uber to the location for the dinner, or do I need to arrange transportation for everyone? I could do the dinner at the resort, but I'd like to them a full experience of the city. Or is it too much trouble?

We’re doing a welcome dinner/party about 20 minutes from our venue and are providing transportation.

I don't think it's too much trouble, as a guest I would feel fine getting an uber. Especially if your guests know each other, a large uber could work great.

However depending on how many guests, I think it wouldn't be too much to pick up the transportation expense if you feel like going the extra mile.

It would be nice to get transportation for your guests. 20 minutes isn’t very close. That’s about a $30 Uber ride each way.

I just plugged it into Uber and it's actually 11 mins away and can cost anywhere from $18-$25.

The shuttle is for 32 people and is $480 RT. This is in Orlando, FL.

i think $18-25 is a little steep—especially one way. That’s $60 with tip if there’s no surge. I think most guests would prefer convenience over seeing the city at their own expense.

As a guest I wouldn’t mind taking an Uber to see a new place . I like the idea you know your group ask your close friends and family what they think
