Destination Wedding - Welcome “baskets”

For those doing destination weddings and planning to give guests welcome baskets/bags, how are you doing it? Are you getting to your destination beforehand to assemble the bags? Is someone else putting them together for you? Are you shipping?

Thanks!P.s. I know a lot of people are against giving gift baskets but due to my destination I’m providing lots of water, wine, snack foods, and a light blanket (October wedding outside), etc. in gift bags to each guest when they arrive at my venue accomodations.

I arrived at the venue a few days beforehand, and my mom and sisters helped me put the welcome bags together on Thursday night. Since I had a microwedding with only 20 guests, it did not take long to put them together once we got our assembly line together. LOL! Since all of my guests were invited to the welcome reception after the rehearsal on Friday evening, we handed the welcome bags out then.

If they can survive shipping, and if the hotel will hold them, you could do them in advance and then ship them to the hotel?

We got to the venue a few days early and I put them together and had the front desk hand them out upon check in.
