Destination wedding website faq help

Tia, on February 2, 2023 at 10:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

We are having our wedding in France and we want to be able to provide guest with as much information as possible. One topic we want to include information on is whether guests should have euros on hand (before traveling or when they arrive) and best way to exchange USD to euros. Any input would be greatly appreciated !

I have traveled to Europe several times and just use my debit/credit card as I would in the US. There are plenty of ATMs available at airport upon arrival should cash be necessary.

Like Jm Sunshine, I have traveled to Europe several times, and though I carried money with me the first couple of times (pre-Euro and I was under 18, so no credit cards lol), I haven't since I was old enough to have my own credit/debit cards. It's much easier.

I lived in Europe for about a year (+ have traveled back a few times since then) and have always just used my credit card as usual or withdrew euros from an ATM using my US bank card (much better exchange rate than those airport kiosks). One of my US banks (I think Bank of America) partnered with a couple foreign banks (like BNP Paribas in France) and didn't charge foreign transaction fees - might be something for your guests to look into.

I think you could have the question be "What currency is used in France?" and then the answer could be something along the lines of "While we're looking forward to treating our guests to dinner and an open bar at our reception, we understand some guests may be concerned about foreign currency for other parts of their stay. In France, the Euro is the currency used. Please also check with your bank and credit card company about whether they charge foreign transaction fees."
