Destination wedding Sandals Royal Caribbean

Carla, on September 29, 2019 at 9:26 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hello, my fellow brides! I Got engaged August 18,2019 and wanted to give myself a while to prepare for my wedding so it was supposed to be Summer 2021. We ended up making it destination wedding for 4th of July 2020 at Sandals Royal Caribbean in Jamaica (where we got engaged). I’m super nervous because I’ve been seeing mixed reviews about destination weddings. What will I do about traveling with my dress? What’s the timeline of when I should be getting things done? I’m so nervous about so many things, including makeup for myself and my girls. I have my dress, my mother’s dress, and working on bridesmaids dresses. I also have invites being sent out in a few days in lieu of save the dates. Anyone have some tips?

I have a destination wedding in November at a secrets resort in Jamaica. The best advice I received in the beginning was from our travel agent (which I completely recommend to coordinate everyone). She told me that these resorts do these weddings all year long like robots. She said some brides will get frustrated because they wont do much until a couple of months prior to the wedding but everything will turn out wonderfully. She was so right. They answered questions and would take note of some things but we just started with the actual decisions and it's coming together. Your dress should be carried on the plane. Call ahead but some airlines will allow you to store your dress in a closet in the flight attendant closet. Worst case you can lay across bags in overhead bins. The all-inclusive nature of these resorts has taken a lot of stress off because you dont have to worry about feeding or entertaining people prior to the wedding. I'm really glad that we are doing destination versus local. Dont worry, Sandals is reputable and it's going to work out wonderfully.

September 2020 bride here at sandals Montego Bay in Jamaica! Congratulations! To be honest planning my destination wedding so far has been amazing and stress free. There is a page on Facebook called sandals resorts & beaches resorts weddings' fans official I would follow this page and ask any questions you may have. Hair and make up I actually went ahead and hired someone off the resort for my make up. When you pay off your wedding and trip they send you a wally bag to pack your dress into. I have no got it yet but I learned this from that fb group. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have. Also the preplanner the people yu talk to on the phone are horrible!!! But don’t worry I hear when you get to the resort they walk you through everything and are extremely helpful and accommodating.

I'm having a destination wedding at Sandals SouthCoast in Jamaica 10/9/20. They have a wedding planner that will work with you along the way to give you a timeline. I informed our guests 2 1/2 years in advance to give everyone time to plan. They allow payments to be made as long as everything is paid off 2 months before the wedding. We're staying 7 days so our wedding is free. When we look to book our flights I will have our travel agent look for airlines that will allow my dress to be on board with me. I'll also ask the resort travel planner if she's aware of which airlines are the best. The resort planner calls every 6 months to check in with me to see if I have questions or want to make any changes. Once we arrive on site they will show us how everything will be set up. I'm having a family member do my makeup and I'll be doing my hair, I'm sure. I read reviews every few months to see how other guest's experiences were. Relax and enjoy someone else doing the work...I know that's easier said than done but I've grown to like it, once I relinquish control. I'm a type A personality. Lol

Lol I definitely like to be in control too! The wedding planner has been great so far but I’m just hoping that when I actually get there I won’t have to stress

I’m nervous too! And I just found someone off of here! But you do have to pay for a day pass to get them on the resort. Just don’t tell Sandals they are doing your make up because they will slap you with a $1000 vendor fee

So I have to pay for the day pass for the makeup person? Is there a process to do that?

I know about the day pass but how do I tell them I need a day pass for someone without telling them it’s the person doing my makeup I have so much questions!
