Destination Wedding Registry

Jannie, on August 14, 2019 at 9:06 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

Hey guys!!

Im doing a destination wedding to Punta Cana, DR. All my guest will be traveling there so everyone will spend money for room and flight. My question is I really dont know what to do with my registry. My wedding is in May 2020 and me and my fiance are moving to a new home by the end of this year, so we would not really need many things you can usually put in a registry since we would have to buy it beforehand. I see options for honeymoon fund, new home fund, things of that sort, but feel its kind of tacky to ask people to help fund your honeymoon or new home, when they are already using their funds to attend your wedding.

What should I do in this instance? My fiance suggested writting a different name under the cash fund instead of honeymoon fund, but we cant really figure out what to put. Any suggestions?

We had a DW and we spread the word that “their presence at our wedding is our gift.”

Yeah, I would just skip the registry. If people want to give you cash, they will. You do not need to have a fund to tell people that money is good.

You're welcome to look at mine as an example! our destination wedding is in hilton head SC. we have home goods and cash funds and guests have bought us both. it also comes in handy for those that cant attend but want to contribute and if your office is throwing you a shower or you have family/girlfriends throwing you a shower before hand. www.zola.com/wedding/merriedtozach and just click on registry tab. Zola has been by best friend lol and its completely free to set up the website and registry!

I just wouldn't do a registry. Your instincts are spot-on that it's tacky to ask for cash (whether it's honeymoon, or new house, whatever). Don't register and ppl will get the idea and likely give you cash.

Skip the registry. We had a destination wedding and we didn't have a registry, but after having some of our guests asking for gifts ideas we created a honeymoon fund to go to a place called Scape Park in Punta Cana. We loved it!

You can have a registry and if anyone wants to buy you something they’ll just send it to your address. You can have an option so everything is deliver to you instead of to them. You do not want people to show up at your destination wedding with presents that you later on need to return. I had a destination wedding and no plans on making a registry but I did because I had a shower. For the most part people got us cash and gift cards instead but I still got a few items from our registry.

I skipped the registry at first but then I had a bridal shower and my MOH mention something very true. People are bringing you presents, you want them to give you something you like and not something you don't. So I made a very last minute short registry with stuff you always need or you might not need right away that can wait until your wedding. I got extra sheets, towels, a few kitchen gadgets, just a little of here and there in different price ranges for everyone. I also added a honeymoon registry not a fund. I added couples massage, horse back riding, romantic dinner, snorkeling trip. In the end I got only a few items from the registry and everything from the honeymoon registry.
