Destination Wedding - Need recommendations on hotel being full

Jordan, on August 12, 2019 at 5:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hey all,

New to the forum. My fiancee and I have already sent out save the dates and are going to be sending out wedding invites this month.

We have around 50 people who will be coming to the wedding, which most of them haven't booked their hotel yet.

We recently have been told by a few people that the hotel's website is indicating they are full. The hotel is fairly large, hence why we chose it and didn't think they'd fill up. We have just sent an email to the hotel to see if their site is accurate. If it isn't we are going to try and see if we can get a block of rooms to help some of our guests out or if they have recommendations.

In the event that the hotel is fully booked - what would you do?

Did they offer you a courtesy block? If so, did they miss the cut off date? No much you can do about that.

I'd look into nearby hotels as well. Find a hotel that will offer this to you if possible. Then add an insert about the other hotel availability.

I would definitely get a block of rooms right away if they aren’t full. They should have offered you that when you booked. If not you should reach out to other close hotels and see if you can do a block there.

Did you not get a room block to begin with? If you did, and they booked your rooms with non-wedding guests, I’d address that with management immediately. If you did not get a room block, you can’t do anything but find another near by hotel and try to get a room block at that one.

Is there a nearby hotel you could have a block on as well? I’ve seen lots of couples do room blocks at 2 hotels. You could also recommend them to AirBnbs. A couple who is getting married in a few weeks did that. The hotels they had rooms blocks at were 2 night minimum and was almost $500 a night. 🙄 So Airbnb it was. Haha.
