Destination Wedding Mua, Photography etc

Russtic Romance, on July 30, 2019 at 4:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Do any of you plan on flying a makeup artist, photographer, hair stylist out to your destination wedding or did you utilize the package that your resort offers? My hair stylist is already coming to my wedding and wants to do my hair for free as a gift. I’m trying to stick to my budget but I’m sure the bulk of expenses will be on makeup and photography. Any advice?

I used a local MUA that I found through this site for my DW. We did fly our own DJ down because great music and entertainment was important to us. I used local photographers and other vendors. Good luck!

Thank you Cyndy. I think I need to figure out what’s more important.

Here there! Congratulations on your engagement!

Where are you planning your destination wedding?

Before you make this decision, I think it would be a great idea to research MUAs and photographers local to your venue so that if you find someone that you love, you will save yourself having to fly someone there. As you mentioned, you are trying to stick to your budget so you don’t want to needlessly spend more money on airfare than you need!

I'm using the stylist and MUA that my package includes, but we're flying out our DJ, who happens to also do videography and photography as well so him and his wife will manage those items for us. Everything else will be provided through the venue.

Congratulations gorgeous! I feel like I’m getting nothing. I’m staying at Royalton Resort and Spa in Antigua. I visited last month. My nerves are shot. I am so close to changing venues bc I don’t feel as if I’m getting any type of incentives.

Thank you, you too! I know the feeling, I was looking for a unique location(St Lucia) but my TA showed me how little I'd get vs the big 3, so I settled, but I'm happy with the perks it makes it easier to account for all the add on's because they add up so quickly. If it's not to late, I would definitely look into possible moving it. There's a royalton in Jamaica I think I looked at and it came with a lot of incentives.

I am familiar w Jamaica’s Royalton, Which I love. However, my fiancé’s twin brother got married last weekend in Jamaica. I didn’t want the family traveling there a again ☺️. I will definitely weigh more options. I’m acting calm, but deep down inside I’m screaming. What country is your venue?

Completely understand, same reason we didn't do DR (friend's DW was there) We're having ours at Now Sapphire in Rivera Cancun.

Hi! I’m flying my makeup artist and a hair stylist for sure. I’ve already booked my makeup artist but still waiting to secure my hair stylist. I would’ve loved to fly the photographer I used for our engagement shoot out as well but she’s on the pricey side so I had to scale back some. I found a photographer in Mexico but couldn’t find a great makeup artist or hair stylist there.

Hi! I think you commented on my bouquet question a few weeks ago. Definitely use the resort's photographer. I've used them before and I have not seen any flown in photographer do better than sandals. Also did you know that all sandals photographers are trained at nikon head quarters? The makeup and hair teams at sandals are just not very good. You should do a consultation for makeup down here and then have them teach a bridesmaid to do it the way you want it with pictures. Thats how I'm doing my hair. As you are, I am struggling to decide if I want to bring a videographer or if we should use the resort, or third choice.. get a drone and do videos via friends and family and then have a professional back home edit them. Looking at YouTube sandals wedding videos, the videographers aren't doing as great as they should be.
