Destination wedding in the Virgin Islands

Claudia, on September 15, 2019 at 10:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
Hello everyone
Has anyone done a destination wedding in the Virgin Islands that can give me some tips? I just got recently proposed to 9-9-19 and looking forward to planning our destination wedding. If we should use a travel agent or not and what all does the travel agent take care of? We would like to book through an all inclusive resort or is that the best way to go? Any recommendations on resorts in the Virgin Islands and what time of year is the best time we’re the weather is nice?

I'm not sure about the Virgin Islands but I've chosen an all inclusive resort in Jamaica. Sandals has resorts throughout the Caribbean. We have a travel agent that takes care of payments and acts as a liaison between us and the resort but the resort also provides a wedding planner that handles all questions and details wedding related. We're getting married 10/9/20 which is the tail end of hurricane season. There are alot of perks involved as well and it costing us less to spend 7 days in Jamaica than a 1 day wedding stateside.

Oh wow that sounds great! We are just starting to look at places but we’re not 100% sure of the Virgin Islands yet. Jamaica is one of our places we chose if we could do it out of the states. The reason we were trying to keep it in the states was for our guest but after doing more research it may be harder for an all inclusive wedding resort. Know we could possible change our mind. If you don’t mind me asking, what all is included and around a ball park figure for a 7 day wedding through the resort?

We're staying 7 days in a butler suite, all water sports on the resort is included as well as all meals and alcohol. Our wedding is free because we're staying longer than 3 days, that includes cake, champagne and cold hor deourves, a bouquet, boutinerre, a turn down bed and breakfast with rose petals, and manicure for him, pre recorded music during and after wedding, white glove dinner at one of the 9 restaurants for the couple, wedding planner and choice of location on resort with set up of reception with white linen and China and signature drink. Our cost came to about $5500, not including airfare. We are also paying for a room for our young adult sons so that added additional $1500. We invited immediate family and friends and gave them the option of going to Jamaica or our local reception. We also gave everyone 2 1/2 years to plan or decide. We've been making monthly payments that we came up with to pay. We're almost done 😉

Wow that is so amazing! Thank you for the response with all the information. That is a great package deal. We are know looking into Jamaica ☺️ I’ve been trying to contact a good travel agent that will helps us. We are looking to get married 4-8-21 and all of our guest know what to expect. We have small kids so one of a travel agent I talk to said Sandals only does adults only😔 but there is a resort family friendly called beaches. I found one in Jamaica called Melia Braco Village and it looks amazing or Beaches of Turks and Caicos or Negril or Ochoa Rios. Hopefully they can give us a good deal like yours😉

Just finally settled on our DW in Cancun, looked several places but unfortunately the VI have limited all inclusives and you get way less for your money than other places. If you're really set on a DW your best options would be DR, Mexico and Jamaica. Trust me I scored the internet and harassed our wedding coordinator constantly about finding me a "unique location" I was stuck on St Lucia but the price point was too high for what I was comfortable with my guest paying for. Definitely use a travel agent, many have traveled to locations and can make good recommendations also there's a lot of perks when you go through one that'll save some money for you in the long run. Good luck to you!
