Destination wedding in St. Lucia or Jamaica

Morgan, on March 24, 2019 at 2:02 PM Posted in Planning 1 16
My fiancé and I are in the beginning stages of planning our wedding. (yay!) We want to do a destination wedding in October of 2020. We are torn between St. Lucia and Jamaica. Both look amazing so it’s getting hard to choose which one. I’m hoping I can get some insight from everyone on here! TIA

I don't think you can go wrong with either destination..we're doing a destination wedding in Jamaica in Oct 2020. We chose Sandals Resorts, because we're getting our wedding free because we're staying longer than 3 days, and it's all inclusive resort. Alcohol, food and water sports plus cake, bouquets, boutinerre, etc. We chose a butler suite and will have someone available to us 24/7. We plan on going to every Sandals Resorts yearly until we've visited them all. Good luck in choosing

We have been to Jamaica and we weren't too impressed. Plus we don't like being asked to buy drugs every time we turn a corner and we definitely don't want to just stay on the resort. We like to explore, so we chose St.Lucia. It'll be our first time there, but the diversity of the jungle, the ocean and the volcano is awesome! We are doing Sandals for all the inclusive amenities they offer, but we'll be exploring the island as well. Plus you get the stay at one play at 3 resorts in St. Lucia of Sandals is what you're leaning toward.

I have to agree with Kat about Jamaica, if you don’t leave the resort it’s great but outside you really to get offered drugs all the time. Heading to St. Lucia for the first time in a couple of weeks for a vacation so I will have to save my opinion until then.

My friends parents live in St. Lucia and the pictures are beautiful. We plan on going there for our honeymoon in March. But keep in mind August - November is hurricane season.

Be careful about hurricane season. October is the last third of the hurricane season in the West Indies. Depending on where you go in the Caribbean, it can last until November 30th.

We're doing a destination wedding January 2020 at a Sandals Resort in Jamaica. It looks beautiful and they've taken a lot of the stress out of planning. My best friend is from St. Lucia and was strongly encouraging us to host the wedding there. All the places I researched we're beautiful and reasonably priced. We ended up choosing Jamaica because the airfare is less expensive and we knew a decent amount of our family and friends would be joining us. We were hoping to keep prices down for them otherwise, it would've been St. Lucia.

I am so sorry... I had thought he booked St. Lucia but it was St. Kitts. It was an amazing island and the resort we stayed at was so nice with private pools. Deciding where to do our DW was the hardest part so I am sorry I wasn’t any help.

I’m getting married in JA at the Luxury Bahia My total wedding cost is $4500 sounds expensive but I’m having 80+ people , private RD and private Reception, 24/7 butler, room upgrades, top shelf alcohol for both events, and transportation for all my guest to and from airport and the falls for pictures. It’s an All inclusive hotel with great night life and my guest got an amazing room rates. Oh that includes the cost for cake and a DJ.

And for every 25 people booked I’ll receive a free room. Which I’m bringing my makeup, photographer, and hairstylist from NY)

I asked myself the very same question and then decided with St. Lucia because you do not need a passport and I wanted that option for my guests. I am still planning but have been looking at the Royalton Resort. Have you decided yet?

We are doing this too! we actually chose beaches turks & caicos because we have a lot of children in our family that we wanted to be able to attend. But our plan is to spend our anniversary at each sandals resort until they are all visited! I am soooo looking forward to Grenada and Barbados!!!

We are planning on visiting each resort as well until we've gone to all of them. I never thought it was affordable but I'm glad I took the leap and inquired.

I was in the exact same situation but went with Mexico. I loved what St. Lucia offered plus it was "different" but the airfare costs(double Mexico) would easily put my guests out of our intended price point .

I think both are gorgeous, but I think Jamaica may be more cost friendly for everyone
