Destination wedding hairstyle - afro textured hair

Chantel, on December 4, 2016 at 8:14 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

Hi all. So my wedding will be in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. On doing my search of venues all places offer hair and makeup on site. My biggest concern is hair. I have afro textured hair and do not see anyone who looks remotely like me. I'd be less concerned if my wedding was in DR. I've already looked at potential styles and most add hair for an updo or have braids, neither of which I'm willing to do. Also, the humidity in CR is absolutely ridiculous. If I blow it out, I'd still look like a puff ball. If any ladies have ideas, I'd be most grateful.

What about a bun, maybe put some blingy hair prices in to top off the look, something like this

I've been having the same problem, trying to think of what I should do with my natural hair

I have natural hair as well and I am having a dw as well. I still haven't decided if I am going to add hair or just wear my natural hair (depends on how long my natural hair length is) but I have some inspiration pictures if it helps. Also maybe you can get it done locally before you go and maybe you or a friend can touch it up the day of the wedding if you are uncertain of the professionals in Costa Rica.

Following! I have been struggling with the same thing for my wedding next year and I have medium length 4b hair for the most part. It has been difficult to find inspiration that I think will suit me and been wondering whether it would just be best to go the protective style route...

Glad I'm not the only one with the dilemma. @Chrissy, no problem. I like option 2. @mrslosacco, thought about the protective style, but using my own hair for twists or flat twist updo. Also haven't found the right style. Seriously about to afro it out and add a flower...sigh

Sadly, this is one of the reasons that's making me change my mind on my dw. i was concerned with this and makeup. no one looks like me or my bm (i wanted to get their makeup done). so my semi-dw in florida is looking more& more realistic.

I'm in the same boat, DW with afro textured hair. I may just rock an afro and embrace the poof. You could also consider twists or braids.

All are good ideas. Unfortunately when I Google African American wedding hairstyles it's mostly weaved up. One thing that popped into my brain is to do braid outs to stretch my hair. In a wash and go it shrinks to my ear, but blown out straight (which is rare) is passed collar bone. Don't you just love shrinkage! What I'm trying not to do is bring all my flexi rods with me, so I think I may need to dedicate some time practicing my thought process to see if it works.

I've been trying to find styles too. I'm natural 4a/4b when stretched my front goes to my chin but washed at my eyebrow and back to my shoulder stretched and washed top of my neck. Idk what I'm doing yet but I want something I can also have on my honeymoon. And SO loves my hair so I don't want it in braids.
