Destination Wedding during Pandemic

Anyone have a destination wedding that’s just around the corner? Mine is from Michigan to Key West on April 11th...zero plans to cancel! 🙌

Honestly, and this is going to be harsh, public health and safety is paramount over anyone's wedding. In fact, I'm a professional in the wedding industry, and I've just advised all my brides and grooms to cancel or postpone their March and April weddings. We're about 10-14 days behind Italy when it comes to the virus and their initial casual feelings about the virus have now lead to a country-wide lockdown and hundreds of deaths. Contact between people (even those feeling totally fine) can spread the virus super quickly and have it jump to immunocompromised people (or jump to another healthy person who gives it to an immunocompromised person, etc. etc.), and in order to give medical professionals an opportunity to get a handle on things, staying home and not going to any non-essential appointments or outings is pertinent.

Are you eloping? Or having a super small wedding, as it's a destination wedding? I'd definitely recommend against flying for the next month or so.

Mine is from Indiana to Fort Myers Beach, FL on 4/7. Super small with just immediate family. We haven't cancelled but we've been talking today about a plan B in case they restrict travel before then. At this point I think it's only a matter of time before that happens considering Florida is wanting to ban out of state travelers already. This is all so sad and disappointing.
Do you have a plan for if you are forced to cancel?

Today, we had to sit and talk about everything. Our venue and Air BnB cancelled and offered a full refund. So, now it’s not worth the drive down (our plan B) due to the economy will need to lift back up. It was a tough decision but we didn’t want our guest and ourselves to be out of a refund. Thinking of you, I know your worries! 😔

We did the same thing. Decided to cancel and get refunds rather than postponing.
We're planning to just go to the courthouse or have a little ceremony at home now.
Are you guys postponing or will you still get married locally?

Well, our friends want us to do it locally but I refuse to settle for less. All the work we’ve put into our destination wedding plans and my dress from Chicago, I told him he and I deserve that big moment seeing each other at the alter. So...we’re thinking an early fall wedding or next spring
