Destination Wedding Decorations

Hey ladies! I’m wondering what other DW brides have done/are doing for their decorations if they are having to travel with all of them.

specifically-
*guest book table
*centerpieces
* how did you honor family who have passed away?
*any other details that you were able to fit in your suitcase. I’m just trying to do some little things to make it more decorative.

THANKS!

Look on Pinterest for ideas. They are great for examples

I’m struggling with the same questions/Concerns. I got a few ideas from other brides. For a guest book people either did an engagement photo book for guests to sign, or they had a map of the island/country that they were visiting for their weekend. Apparently there are cute templates on Etsy you can buy and then print somewhere and bring with you. They framed the picture afterwards. Somebody also suggested jenga pieces for people to sign, I liked that idea too. Don’t have to worry about anything breaking.

For centerpieces ive been trying to find acrylic vases to pack and fly with, but can’t find any. They are all glass. I might buy extra and risk flying with them. Maybe I can put them in a carry on? The vases will either be filled with sand and a fake flower on top, or filled with water and pebbles and a floating candle (I’ll post pics of what I found on Pinterest).

My FHs father passed away when he was younger, I keep asking him what he wants to do but he hasn’t decided. We may do a photo of him at the reception only at a table with other family members, but we aren’t sure yet. His sister who is getting married 3 weeks after us is having an empty chair with a framed photo at the ceremony (she’s doing a DW also). I think that’s a bit morbid and it will upset their mom, but that’s her choice I suppose. My FH is going to also wear his dads watch the day of the wedding.

We we are doing welcome bags, but what we ordered is easy to pack- sunblock, mosquito bracelets, fans to plug into phones and a tumbler cup. We are going to put them on gift bags which are easy to pack. We aren’t doing any other favors.

My mom insisted on buying engraved champagne glasses, we are going to have to put those in a carry on bag.

Our cupcake tower is acrylic and can be broken down and put back together easily so that’ll go in a suitcase.

    Hope that helps!

I am glad you asked this, I was wondering the same thing myself. My DW is in FL and I live in Ohio. Me and fiance are trying to decide on flying or driving due to decor. Right now I have a few picture frames, one sign, a frame for people to sign in place of guest book, card box, toasting glasses, knife set, and some napkins to bring. But I also plan to bring the favors, tea light candle holders, welcome bags, and maybe some more decor. If we fly I will ship everything before I leave or might ask a family member who's driving to bring. Or we might drive ourselves. It looks like your wedding is in Mexico so I would suggest shipping it to your wedding coordinator there. I don't really see any other way. I am using everything the venue offers to my advantage - centerpieces, cake stand, things like that so I suggest that as well. It will leave you with less to worry about bringing. I figure the beach will be beautiful enough that I won't need tons of decor.

Very helpful! We are getting married in Mexico and I want to bring some items to save on cost, but also don’t know what they’ll allow us just yet and what is practical. Thanks for the ideas!
