When should invitations go out for a destination wedding on 4/23/21? I want to give people plenty of time to save and make accommodations but also don’t want to send out ridiculously early. I

You could send save the dates out first like right now and then send the invites later

The sooner the better for DW I think. Mine is May 2021. We are not doing save the dates since our wedding is very intimate. I simply made sure everyone received the date as soon as I had it ☺️ Flights and hotels are booking fast for 2021 so some of your guests may want to book accommodation right away, especially if it’s a busy venue.

Save the dates should go out about 6-8 months and allow about 12 weeks for invitations if it’s a destination

You can send save the dates first with your wedding website information on there. Then follow up with an invitation 6 to 8 weeks ahead.

Send out Save-the-Dates with a wedding website as soon as you'd like to. Don't send invitations until around 3 months before the wedding.

For some reason the post cut off. Sorry about that.

As I was saying, the resort we are going to requires 50% of the rooms 8 months before the wedding and full payment 4 months before the wedding. To make sure our guess had time to meet those deadlines, we sent out save the dates 14 months before the wedding. 2 months before the 50% was needed for the guess rooms, we sent out a friendly reminder. 3 months before the actual wedding we plan to send out invitation to the guess that have booked their room and plan to attend. Our guess really appreciated the extra time to plan, but if you decide to follow a similar path, make sure you send a reminder out to keep your fuess informed up upcoming deadlines for rsvp, rooms, etc

You can send them now so they can set up there payment plans if needed for the rooms and purchase flights. We sent ours a year out.

My wedding is in Mexico in April 2021. We sent out Save the Dates in April 2020, then invitations July 2020. Our resort is requiring rooms to be booked by November 2020 (5 months prior to the wedding). So I did this timeline so that people have plenty of time to RSVP and book their rooms. A lot of people are having difficulty committing right now due to COVID, so the sooner that people know about your wedding the better. That way they can do their research and get travel insurance and all that.

    Hope this helps!
