I'v always dreamed of getting married in a church but lately I've been thinking of having a destination wedding instead. The biggest issue is the guest list. That could easily be resolved with the destination wedding. I just don't want to end up regretting not having the church wedding (that I've always dreamed of having) if we choose to do the destination wedding. I'm so torn right now. What are your thoughts?

@tiedaknot, Well FH and I discussed it, and we decided on Jamaica!

@Soon2beMrs.K, I've always dreamed of the Catholic church wedding, but in reality, there have been times where I honestly wanted to get away from the Catholic church altogether.

@Aimee, thanks for the tip about having the dress hemmed for barefeet.

@Crystal...I had to giggle just a bit when you said "but in reality, there have been times where I honestly wanted to get away from the Catholic church altogether" because my FH is what he calls "disenchanted catholic" =)

Your dress is perfect for a DW so stop worrying about that!! My FSIL loves Jamaica and hsd my FH not been deadset on HI, I would have pushed for Jamaica myself =)

@tiedaknot, lately it hasn't been so bad, but I seriously was considering getting away from it. I wasn't going to change my dress. I love it far too much. It's funny because I hated it when I saw it online, and when I tried it on, I fell in love. The one I loved online, looked horrible on me. Now I'm searching for the perfect barefoot sandals.

Do you think the BM dresses should be different? This is what they all chose

We're doing a DW and if that makes us selfish so be it...we wouldn't have it any other way!! Good luck in your decision!!!

We did a destination wedding in Aruba and we were able to spend a week with our closest 50 family and friends! It was so much fun and everyone is still raving about it! The people that thought we were selfish for having it abroad just didn't come. And honestly, we didn't notice them not being there. You wedding should be what you want, not what other people expect you to have.

I'm sure I'll get the "why are you getting married in Jamaica" comments and my mood will depend on the type of answer they'll be given. I'm so over the huge guest list. I just want the people that mean the most to me there.....even if it's not everyone I'd love to have there.

We're going with the DW in Jamaica. I think if I were to go through with the church wedding, deep down I would regret it.

    That's a great option!

Also, people may ask why Jamaica out of pure curiosity, nothing else. So don't shoot :-)

Are you Catholic? If you are and you want to be married in that special church then do it. Just invite who you want.

@Mrs. S, I'll just be honest and let them know that I didn't want the hassle of dealing with a huge guest list. Besides, I hate being the center of attention for any reason.

@MJ, Yes I am Catholic. I just don't feel like getting married in a Catholic church is such a good idea anymore.
